For the clip point blade.  I find it much more visually pleasing than the drop/spear point model.  Also, while it’s certainly a matter of personal preference, if I could only have a single blade on a pocket knife, I feel there is a strong argument for a clip point.

In terms of steel, I would have preferred the S35VN to 154CM, but 154CM is still perfectly serviceable.

Fit and finish are excellent.

One thing that strikes me as a bit odd is how short the blade is relative to the handle, especially for a single blade folder.  At 3 7/8” closed, the blade is only 2 3/8” long.
For comparison:
- Buck 301:  3 7/8” closed, longest blade 2 3/4”
- Buck Squire:  3 3/4” closed, 2 3/4” blade
- Buck 55:  3 3/8” closed, 2 3/8” blade
Thank you for the reply.

I do have the Spear point version in S35VN and have been very happy. So much so, I do own two, as I like the Carbon scales as well. Had a third but traded with a great member here for a GEC #23.

As I measure, the handle is 3.5”, excluding the lanyard hole.
The spear blade is 2.5” total length, 2-3/8” cutting edge.  It looks short visually, yet does an exceptional job on awl task I have used it on!

I refer to it as my MODERN CANOE pattern.

It is pretty and functional for me😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

This is the 631 Paklite Field Pro.

When I saw it was a 4” blade at only three ounces, I had to snag one.  Haven’t had the chance to do much with it yet, but my initial thoughts are:

- Handle is comfortable enough for one that is (mostly) skeletonized, though of course not as comfortable as a well-made full handle.

- The knife seems quality, but the sheath feels kind of flimsy and cheap.

That is nice, real nice, Nate j!  Glad you were able to snag one as the inventory on this BOTM was depleted pretty quick.

Yes, some of them do go pretty fast.  I find it best to get on the Buck mailing list, and place an order as soon as the text message or email comes through if the BOTM is one you want.

This month, I received an email, then the txt arrived 4 hours later, at that time half of them were sold.

I do love the Slim Select 112👍

I do have an Orange one, and Blue, Grey, Chartreuse, Red, Dark Cherry,, but not a Black one.

I carried a Red for work for several years after finding at Cabela’s 5 or 6 years ago. It developed a recurve from being sharpened and stripped regularly.

Great knife.

PS: Your SOUP looks amazing👍🌹👍

Thanks LC :tu:

:iagree: the Ranger slim select is superb, I’ve got a green micarta pro and an LT too, the Ranger in its various forms is probably my all time favourite knife

I hear you!  For a solid work knife the Red SS served be the best of all pocket clip carry models.

When I retired the RED to my bag, I replaced it with a Slim Pro in Brown Micarta, w/Brown Creakote Blade, w/nail Knick.

Comparison picture with my Tribal

A delivery this afternoon included a 500 BOTM and this Slim Select.

110 Red, nail nick, DROP POINT model 😁.   Box date is 11/02/23, the blade is stamped 2019.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I would have preferred a 112 Ranger Drop Point Slim, yet this is as nice.

Oops, forgot picture of the BOTM

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Barehead, Micarta textured as wood, nice drop point. My first 500,  appears same length as my 112, slightly thinner handle.   Lost awl will power, gave them to Sunday to sell out, darn it they made more than the 500.
