Working at home during the Dutch ‘intelligent lock down’ has its advantages. First, my wife and I don’t visit restaurants at the time, so we do more cooking at home (which is much cheaper), and second, I don’t have to drive once a week to the gas station to fill up my gas tank. That saves a lot of money!
So what can you do with the money saved? Buy a nice multi-tool!
Last week this old style Gerber 600 DET EOD was being offered on the internet. I like the multi-tools with the det crimpers (a very long time ago I was a master blaster for a short time), so this Gerber seems a got idea to me. I bought it and this week it was delivered to me. Being more a Victorinox and Leatherman fan, to me this Gerber seems to be a high quality product.
Then I searched the internet, but there isn’t much information about this specific multi-tool, especially the version I bought. Probably mine is the very first version of this multi-tool. The only picture I found of a specimen just like the one I bought, came from the website picclick. It also had the non-serrated blade.
I also found out there are a lot of fake Gerber 600 DET EOD’s around, but luckily I bought a genuine one.
For the benefit of all collectors, I made some snap shot pictures of the details of this multi-tool and of the box and sheath it came in. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. I was kind of struggling with the sun and flash light conditions.
The price tag states “Prijs 190.00”. This indicates it was sold in the Netherlands (hence the word ‘Prijs’). It did cost 190.00 but I am unsure if the price was in Euro’s or in Guilders (190 guilders is 86 Euro’s).
Questions: When was this specific version produced? What di dit cost?
