93 mm future
on: June 09, 2020, 08:01:04 PM
Fellow Knights,

do you also wonder what could be in store for the 93 mm series after Victorinox released the Farmer X?

I hope for a Farmer XPP (Farmer X with pliers and philips).

What do you think?

Cadet X. Never understood why one would put a nail file on a SAK, but no scissors.  :dunno:

Would be a sure buy for me

Same.  I make my own for now, but would buy a bunch if Vx ever makes it again.

I would like to buy one. I don't have a Cadet yet either and oddly want one but can't click the buy button because I love the blade on the Pioneer/Soldier very much.

As far as the 93 mm line goes, I would LOVE to see the metal file/saw, preferably in 3-layer form, but knowing Victorinox they would probably add it to the wood saw or scissors. I would also like to see the return of the hollow rivet; I find the keyring attachment on the 93 mm line to be uncomfortable, so I ground it off my Pioneer. And since I'm being greedy, the elimination of the sharpened edge on the inside curve of the bottle opener was a huge mistake. The return of that very useful feature would mean each tool would have a sharpened edge of some type.

Another here for a 93mm metal file. A four layer with blade, awl, file, saw, and openers would be my perfect work knife. The file's metal saw is great for those cases when your cutters aren't going to cut through it; and may very well damage them. Used one on my SwissTool to cut a piece of a fallen and dead tree out of a fence it was nailed to  Scissors just aren't something I use a heck of a lot working and are mostly an EDC thing.

I wonder why it took Victorinox so long to build a four layer alox. Hope there will be more options in the future. Philips, file, pliers...

How about a Aloxchamp?

Aloxplorer!

That is what I was thinking.  Would be nice, but seeing that they keep discontinuing mag glass SAKs I doubt we’ll see it.

Not likely regretfully as they don't make 84mm scissors for decades.

I’d like to see a 93mm version of the Voyageur.

Three layers is thick enough. Any thicker and it rides in my console or backpack but not in my pocket. Love my Pioneer X but I carry a standard black Pioneer most of the time.

I agree. It wouldn't please the Vic purists, but they could use Delemont scissors with a modified backspring to fit.

Yeah, nah. I bought a Delemont S14 to see what the scissors were like with the view to possibly transferring to a Cadet. I don't like the scissors....

How about taking 91 mm scissors and shorting them to 84 mm?
