What Gerber do I have?
on: June 07, 2020, 11:09:49 PM
I've had this old Gerber multitool, for roughly 25 years now.  Just wondering as to the model.
The only markings on it are
GERBER, along with STAINLESS and U.S.A. on one handle side.

It's been a good user for a long time and I'm just wondering what it's called.

MPT, short for "Military Provisional Tool". Pretty much, it was Gerber's version of the PST to beat Leatherman out of a military contract in the mid 1990s. Which is why the MP600 is now standard issue to troops.

Cody is spot on.  Here is a link to the MTo wiki entry for these:

Cool.
I just thought it was their copy of a Leatherman tool.
Now I find out that it started something new at Gerber.

Thanks for the help, guys.

If you are curious, I did a short review and thoughts on every piece of Gerber multi-tool I have posted under "Gerber Episodes" located in the sticky section of this Gerber forum. It is worth a quick look to see the many variations and styles Gerber has made over the years.
