( WITHDRAWN ) Fenix HL60R Headlamp
on: August 29, 2017, 04:52:14 PM
I got this light thinking this would be a good way to get into 18650s cells and get a great headlamp.  Well yes and no.  The light is great but for my application I think its overkill.  Heres what this light should be used for, those looking for hands free in a hard work environment.  Those working late hours who need a rugged headlamp with lots of power and run times.  If you are a professional person who needs a tough headlamp for work.  If you are a rescue or anything in that field this is the light for you.  If you are building a serious BOB or emergency kit then this headlamp would be awesome.  I have a few headlamps for camping and home use that just work better for me.  I think I will try again with 18650 cells but not with a headlamp.

I can take a hit on the light but can't give it away.  Its brand new in box unused.  I did charge the battery and run thru the modes.  Everything is as it came to me.

$63 shipped within the CONUS.  I'm happy to ship anywhere else at cost.  I will take more pics when I get home.

Thanks for looking.

When you say overkill for your application...might this light then be good if one was hiking and darkness fell, but one wanted to press on?

Yes and then some.  This is a heavy duty all metal ( aluminum ) housing.  The light is big but keep in mind the battery used is a 18650.
The chart is from Fenix

I've got one of these and really like it.  Aloha's initial assessment is pretty spot on.  It's a fairly serious light.  Bright and long lasting but, while comfortable to wear, you wouldnt want to go jogging with it.  Its solid  :tu:

Edit to add that the micro USB charging is a big plus for me .

:2tu: thanks Clown, do you think it's suitable for night hiking / kayaking so wearing it for 4 - 5 hours at a stretch ?

Yes I think it would be a great choice for those activities.   :tu:

Clown, have you tested how waterproof it is ? Had some black diamond headlights that were supposed to be waterproof - the lamp part was alright but the battery compartments allowed water in so it didn't end well.

I've had mine out in some moderate rain for a couple of hours without issue but that's the extent of it.  Never had it under water.
