Time for a very unique tool design, the Leatherman Crunch. Much like many of Leatherman designs however, it had a following...enter the clone.

20201004_064547A by Chako, on Flickr

This clone is a real one, mimicking right down to the tool selection. Like most clones, it does not have Leatherman on it. However, if you are buying a lot on eBay and you aren't careful, you just might take a clone home expecting something a bit more upscale in quality.

20201004_064752A by Chako, on Flickr

As far as quality goes, it isn't up to par with the real deal. With that said, it isn't exactly far off either. You will feel the cheapness of that screw bolt. It tends to rattle more, and that part feels like it is made of aluminum rather than stainless steel. The finish isn't as good either, and the tools are fairly close visually to that of the Crunch, but just doesn't reach the quality mark that the real Crunch sets out. As with all clones, they never beat a Leatherman for quality, fit, and finish. I was quite happy to add a clone to my collection however. The Crunch is a very unique design in the multi-tool universe, and to think someone in China was gutsy enough to steal the design out and out to clone it. Well when I got my clone, you could find them online everywhere. Not so sure how many are out there these days. I am sure Leatherman went after the factory.

20201004_065037A by Chako, on Flickr

After doing a quick eBay.ca search, I can say I did not see any clones for sale there. Might mean that getting one of the knock off tools might be harder to get now then back then. I have noticed the newer Crunches do not have the pat pend stamping on the handles anymore. Might be time to add another Crunch to my list of tools to add to the collection. Can't believe the prices that the Crunch are now going on eBay either.  :o

I always wanted a Crunch clone  Never could find one when I was looking though :dunno: Seems like they would make a great tool to put in a vehicle and just leave until needed  Crunches do claim a rather high price but are very nice tools indeed :salute:

I was just looking at the Gerber Grappler just now. The Crunch is far more elegant.

Wow that is an impressive collection. I stress out every time I spent $100+ on a new tool when I know I'm just going to carry my Surge anyways.

The saga continues. I just received a T2 and a T4 from Amazon's official Leatherman dealer Netrush. Problem is, Netrush only carries the basic tools. I figured it was time to call Leatherman over the phone to put in an order. I just got off the phone with them and they told me they can't do that. I will need to order online.

Oddly enough, the lady I had to phone the last time told me I could order over the phone and that would eliminate my being flagged due to fraud BS. How is it their freaking employees have no clue of their own darn policies...policies I may add designed to piss of their customers.

I also asked the Leathermaan representative that I spied a Topo Skeletool on the US site and is it possible to order one shipped to me. I was told no. That one was an American only model. What the heck? How am I suppose to collect their stuff when they won't sell me their freaking stuff! I am so angry right now, that I am thinking I will not be ordering anything today. I need to cool down. It sucks being a Canadian Leatherman collector...and it makes no difference if you own almost 400 of their smurfing tools. I swear, Leatherman is the most infuriating company to deal with. I just do not get it.

I was going to order a bunch of colourful T4s but now I am re-assessing my continued aggravation with dealing with the company itself. I just need to cool down I think.

I had to use Rem Oil to loosen up the T2. It came stuck together so bad, I couldn't flip the tools out with those little paddles. After working the oil into everywhere and having to physically pry the tools apart to break the seal, everything is working as it should.

The T4 is working good.

Well I calmed down and placed another order in. Now I know when I get home from work tomorrow, I will have to phone them in again.

Got on order, a yellow T4, a coyote tan Rebar, and the knifeless Rebar. I decided to shore up my Rebars this time around. Next order after this will probably be more of the colour T4s.

Just called in my order at work for confirmation. Got an awesome person on the other end who shall remain nameless. She rekindled my love for the company again. I am realizing that whenever I talk to a certain someone at Leatherman, things tend to go downhill for me. having a good rapport with your customers is such a valuable skill to have. Not sure if she is reading this...but I thank you for your people skills.

Ponders to self...I should ask for this customer representative by name next time I call Leatherman. It might keep my blood pressure down.  :hatsoff:

So far, this is what I do not have on the Leatherman.ca website.

1. Wave + (2 - stainless and black)
2. Black and Silver Surge
3. Free T4 (4 - red, light blue, dark blue, and green)
4. Charge + (2 - stainless and black)
5. Black and Silver Signal
6. Signal (6 - stainless, black, coyote tan, aqua, cobalt, crimson)
7. Charge + TTi
8. Topo Signal
9. Black and Silver Wave

The list is getting smaller.

I agree. It made a lot of difference.

Yes the list is still extensive, but going down. I noticed I missed a few models in my previous list. This time, I was trying to be more thorough in the counting. With that said, I have subtracted quite a bit since late August. Thus far I have gotten the following:

01. Skeletool lime green.
02. Skeletool black & white.
03. Skeletool RX red.
04. Skeletool coyote tan.
05. Skeletool KB stainless.
06. Skeletool KBx lime green.
07. Skeletool KBx blue.
08. Skeletool KBx stainless.
09. Charge + forest camo.
10. Charge + G10 red.
11. Charge + G10 orange.
12. Super Tool 300M coyote tan.
13. Super Tool 300M black oxide.
14. Raptor black and orange.
15. P4.
16. P2.
17. T4 stainless
18. T2.

Just ordered...
19. Knifeless Rebar.
20. Rebar coyote tan.
22. T4 yellow.

Here is the T2 and T4 stainless with the P2 and P4.

20201008_184545A by Chako, on Flickr

As mentioned before, my T2 was so glued together that I couldn't pull out the flip out tools. I had to work at them and with the aid of Rem Oil, I was able to put things aright again. The T4 did not have this issue of dried up oil or something that the T2 suffered from. This time round, I went with the 2 Rebars because frankly, they are the same price as the T4, and I think they are of greater bang for your buck. Got the yellow T4 because that is the colour that most intrigues me of them all. Will be getting the others sooner or later though. I am thinking I may keep the Signals for mostly last though. At $159 Canadian each, they will be expensive to get. That is the current plan however.

I must be slow or something. I was playing around with my toys when I had a massive brain fart of an idea. I wondered why the T2 did not come with a pocket clip...and quickly looked at it and noticed it has 2 holes to put one on. Kind of makes me wonder why it doesn't come with one. I fear I may know the answer.

Also another observation with my fondling er fidgeting. My thumbs and fingers get sore quickly pushing those little paddles to get the secondary tools out away from the body of the multi-tool (P4, P2, T4, T2). I am sort of edging towards thinking the whole system is mildly annoying. I think I still prefer nail nicks to sore fingers any day.

I was thinking tjat all the Free series came with the clip,  except for the very earlier ones  and LM ended up sending a clip to anyone who ordered one early on ??? Tjat may have only been for the P4 though  they do sell them separately though  :D

Looks like my current order has been sent. Still out west, but on its way.

I went on Leatherman's website and of course they sell the pocket clip for the T2. I think on my next order, I will have to add one of those so that it won't look too left out from the rest of the Free family.
