Hello from Canada
on: July 21, 2020, 11:23:44 PM
Hello from Canada!

I've been growing a collection of multitools, primarily SAKs.

My first was a Victorinox Woodsman (Explorer+saw) back in the late 90s as a gift from my parents. My dad, bother, and I all had a Victorinox SAK and watch around that time. My second was a graduation gift, the Victorinox Cybertool M.

I've since started collecting more multitools and some knives. Here in urban Canada, most people don't really carry knives, so a multitool is certainly more tasteful than a dedicated knife and I've found it's all I ever need. Some of my collection:

- Victorinox Classic Alox
- Victorinox Manager (red)
- Victorinox Walker (red)
- Victorinox Bantam Alox (silver, dark green)
- Victorinox Spartan PS (white w/black tools)
- Victorinox Compact (black)
- Victorinox Farmer X Alox (silver)
- Victorinox Woodsman (red)
- Victorinox Cybertool M (translucent red)
- Victorinox Swiss Champ (red)
- Victorinox Ranger Grip 79 (red-black)
- Victorinox Swisstool Spirit X (stainless)
- Leatherman Squirt PS4 (red)

Gifted the girlfriend the Victorinox Super Tinker Winter Magic 2019 special edition -- not "mine" but it's part of "our" collection  :D

I've studied the lineup pretty well at this point -- even made a large spreadsheet of all the models and their specs for comparison.

I also "collect" (have an excessive abundance of!) computer keyboards, writing instruments (mostly mechanical pencils), and watches.

Nice to see a community of fellow collectors, enthusiasts, and practical people.

I might make a video/post of what I find to be a very useful additive (non-destructive) mod to an otherwise limited-use SAK tool that I haven't yet seen anywhere -- I won't spoil it but it's certainly helpful here in Ontario. I could also do some reviews or comparisons if anyone is interested as I do use these regularly.

Thanks for the welcome!

I forgot to include the Wenger Viking (green, "GRIZZLY" branded).

Here's a quick little shot of the Swiss Champ, in the only color suitable for such an classic flagship.  8)

Here's a little shot of some of the SAKs (taken with my abacus, apparently)

You can tell which one is the shelf queen.  :D

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
