It was super cheap...and this thread got me into buying one at Canadian Tire. Thanks Def.  :twak:  :D

I still think these are a somewhat dumb idea...but that has never stopped me from buying a multi-tool in the past.

Home Hardware had a selection for about $3.99 when I was there last week.  I managed to resist the temptation, mostly by accidentally leaving my wallet in the Jeep.

That was too easy, anyone can open a simple "push to open" door without using their hands, BUT doors which open towards you with a handle that has to be rotated first are much more difficult .....  :pok:   ;)

With out going into the multiple scientific articles I've read and statistics...lets just say this...DONT FING USE THOSE THINGS! They give a false sense of security, and most people don't realise that the virus is still viable on Brass/bronze for up to 5 hours before it can be considered safe.

Worse of all, the thing I see constantly that makes me cringe...is the way people use their cell phones..even if someone does everything right, I've seen people using their phones with dirty hands...putting the phone in the pocket...cleaning their hands..then touching the phone again..

If you are going somewhere of concern, plan it...write something on disposable paper...and for god sakes keep your phone in your pocket. The same thing is true with credit cards btw, be concious of clearing them and how you keep things.

You are far far better off treating both your hands as contaminated at all times unless they are cleaned simultaniously

:bnghd:  :iagree:

As someone who has to deal with the travelling public, from across the whole infected globe (I also have to search their bags/belongings and often them) I can not stress enough the need to do the basics but, moreover, do them properly.

I have seen people do the very same things with their mobiles. They also tap away on the cashpoint (ATM) keypad with these tools but then remove the potentially (likely) infected card (which they don't disinfect) and stick it back in their pocket/wallet using their hands (which they also don't disinfect)

I've even seen them hold the same card WITH THEIR TEETH whilst putting the cash away :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Don't even get me started on the idiots that wear gloves (but do the same) WHAT'S THE POINT  :dunno:

Stay safe out there people.. :salute:

I used gloves every day as a chemist and I still made mistakes, NO ONE should be using them EVER! Unless you are hospital trained in the proper use of gloves...don't use them, they can actually make things far far worse.

Pete from Cedric & Ada rises some good points, but what him and most people don't realize is that the greatest benefit of gloves is that they are far easier to clean than your hands and the same goes for these tools.
The overall idea is not wrong, but what they all seem to lack is a way to carry them.

I think they would need several changes to really be beneficial:
- Two colors, so you can easily see which is the dirty (don't touch there) side. I know the shape already tells you that, but it is not that clear and virii are invisible
- a sheath that covers the dirty side and lets you access the tool during the day
- the sheath needs to be easy to clean (e.g. in the microwave, if the tool is non-metallic that is where you could clean it too).

That way you could use the tool during the day, in the evening you clean it and the sheath.

Of course the tricky part is to remember using the tool and using it correctly and if you can do that you probably can also remember not to touch your face until after you have washed your hands.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I don't think anyone needs anything that gives them a false sense of security. I know I'm terrible at not touching my face.

Here's something else to mull over

Touching or punching ?  I know the latter is how I feel sometimes when dealing with deliberately annoying idiots ....   ;)
