How about a 30-day challenge for Victorinox Champions. All versions (including Plus) eligible.

The Champion was slighted by not making the layer cut for the Go BIG Challenge.   :(

I'll steal Nix's name suggestion: The Challenge of Champions!

[Cue dramatic music]

Spanning the globe, to bring you the constant variety of SAKs.
The thrill of victory,
And the agony of defeat.
The human drama of SAK challenge.

This is MTo's Challenge of Champions!

(With apologies to ABC's Wide World of Sports for shamelessly stealing their opening.)

Current SAKs:
Champion "c", Bijou (3), Classic SD (5), Cavalier, Mini Champ (2nd gen.) Plus (mod), Swiss Champ (3), Explorer (3), Deluxe Tinker, Climber, Pioneer Alox, Bantam, Delemont Evolution S557, Wenger Serrated Commander, Huntsman, Serrated Spartan/Weekender, Executive, Explorer Plus, Deluxe Explorer Plus (mod), Wenger Traveler, Marlboro Unlimited Outdoorsman, Alox Classic SD, Spartan, Champion "a"

I'm hearing Queen perform "We Are The Champions" in my head. I'd be up for this one!

Being new to MTo and challenges, is there a process to get challenges on the calendar?

You can drum up enthusiasm for your idea here, then you can start a thread elsewhere when you think you'll have a good group of participants.  Along the way you decide on a month that works for most.  Sometimes the mods will see your discussion and add it to the yearly challenge thread, sometimes you go on that thread and ask them to add it.

Is the PST challenge happening this year?  If not, next year?

I was toying with the idea of The New Romantics - which would... (Steve, David look away now)... feature modern takes on traditional folders, like Lionsteel, lightweight Bucks etc... It could be fun... Maybe?

Thanks, ElevenBlade.

I'm guessing a 30 day Champion challenge would qualify for the Discontinued SAK/MT Challenge? I didn't see anything else in the list of Awards that seemed to fit.

Do you know how the badges get awarded at the end of the challenge?

Sometimes a moderator will award them to members when the challenge is over, but usually when members reach Day 30, they can request the badge.
Here are the instructions for requesting a badge. For 30-day challenges, include the link to your "Day 30" post.

There's a Champion challenge in the works somewhere on MTo. Keep your eyes peeled for it. If there are enough people involved there will be a badge that's designed for the Champion... So you would get that instead of the Discontinued badge

Dedicated Tools Challenge
Single-purpose tools only. Let's see those mini ratchets and tiny Knipex pliers. Folding knives, folding saws, maybe even a hatchet?

Been thinking about this one recently.

I’ve been thinking  a single layer SAK challenge would be good

Bring out the waiters, bantams, sentinels, Alpineers etc just blade and depending on model T&T, combo tool and corkscrew :2tu:

Really like that idea definitely works for me :like:

Only thing I can think is many of us will be coming off the Chuck Yeager challenge in December and then into the 90 day Soldier challenge in February, so may want a break from SAKs :dunno:

I’d be up for it in January myself if others are interested?
