M2.5 tap 3mm brass tube. Help!
on: September 09, 2020, 08:55:25 PM
Hi All,

Maybe this is a no hoper:
I have some threaded pivots on order for my SAK mod, but I thought I’d try making my own.  I found some 3mm brass tube with 0.5mm wall- so 2mm inside diameter for an M2.5 tap.

I successfully tapped the tube.  Then I found that the outside diameter had increased!

Is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance.  :)

If you hold the tube in a collet or pin vice it will stop the OD from changing

Thanks for the tip,  I tried with the head of the Dremel and it worked!  Have ordered a pin vice.
