wooden add-on!
on: November 13, 2022, 11:42:03 AM
hi, yesterday was a very boring day, so I decided to create a wooden plug for my skeletool!
no electricity, only hand tools, then oiled with tung oil.
I used a piece of african doussie wood.
I'd like to try with boxwood, very hard, but not easy to work with...

thanks, I will post upgrades, if I realize how to improve it.
now I'm waiting for a little bolt purchased to fix it, later on I'd like to find a way to use it to keep another screw bit, maybe fixing it with the cabiner spring

I added the leatherman small bit driver to the skelly!

the carabiner spring help to keep in position the bit driver while extracted and while returned in rest position.
Now I have to create the final version in a harder wood essence.

Very interesting  :tu: :like: I would love to hear how this holds up over a while  Since you shouldn't be putting a whole lot of force on that mini driver then it should actually do fairly well  :like:

that's why I will use an harder wood. or maybe a metal guide
as you say the mini driver doesn't need big force, but it will definitely loosen with time

Anyway, with this mod the skeletool becomes the perfect EET (Essential Everyday Tool  :D) for me:
pliers
6 bit drivers
knife

I don't need anything else!

ok, now it's perfect, I glued a tiny metal guide.

the friction is enough to keep steady the bit, but still easy to move with fingers inside or outside, or to remove to flip the bit
