News from Victorinox
on: August 31, 2020, 12:21:15 PM
Hi mates,

I'd like to share with you some interesting information about new releases from Victorinox!
So, in few words about new releases:
1. "Chinese Zodiac" series will bring us the "Year of the Ox"
2. Awesome Pioneer X will be released in "Winter Magic" design (I suppose it's a former "White Christmas", but I cannot say for sure)
3. Few old models (Spartan, Signature Lite and Ranger Grip 55) will get a black coating and will be releases within "Onyx Black collection" series
4. Gardener knives are back! Moreover - one model will be produced in two variations, regular one and... left-handed knife!

You can review official releases from Victorinox here, in my blog: https://leaf-vics.com/news-from-victorinox-2020

All these documents provided to me by our official dealer of Victorinox in Ukraine - Irina from victorinox.com.ua
Thanks, Ирина Дышкант (Irina Dishkant)!

Moderator Edit: Images removed by request of Victorinox as they were pre-release  :(   :o   - Hopefully they will be back on 28th September!  :tu:

How well does the black finish hold up? That Onyx is cool.

Cool, thanks for posting.

That black Spartan is basically the Spartan PS we all know. I think

Does the alox PX have a new texture too? I can’t get a clear closeup.

I think you are right. It says „winter alox pattern“ and the close up does not look like the regular alox pattern  :tu:

Nice Onyx additions...too bad the 91mm line wasn’t extended beyond the Spartan PS.  But still hopeful that’ll come later...assuming these sell well enough.

At last we might get some of those tools (wood saw and scissors) in 91mm, since they’re used here. Also the file on the Swiss Lite might show us how durable it is there.

Thanks for posting LeaF!

I'm daydreaming about a Tourist PS

My guess is that they will stick with these for a while.  But like you said, sales will dictate what happens with the future offerings.

I'd be nervous that the saw and scissors won't keep the PS coating well, and Victorinox would have in mind to avoid complaints in that regard.

I’m only a bit concerned about the wear. I suppose I want to find out either way, and intend to use one if it has a saw or scissors. So far they seem to hold up to regular use for me and used PS Spartans for sale look better tool wise than I’d expect considering the way the scales are for some samples I’ve viewed.

I even think it might tolerate some light honing and stropping without totally losing the coating and changing color.

Thanks LeaFy - Amazing stuff

The Pioneer X has got to be a first in many, many decades - as in a new texture for the Alox
Looks cool (pardon the pun)
Yep also worried about the $$$.

I could not find the docs on you website link - I will try again

I'll use a 3cm ruler 100x more than a nail file

I might be interested in one of those Pioneer Xs, if the price isn’t too crazy.

I liked the look of the damascus Hunter this year as well, but just couldn’t bring myself to drop $400 on one.
