I might be interested in one of those Pioneer Xs, if the price isn’t too crazy.

I liked the look of the damascus Hunter this year as well, but just couldn’t bring myself to drop $400 on one.
Exactly.
Spotted one in store last week on vacation...

Nope, not dishing out the cash

Since about 3 years I subscribed many times to the Victorinox News Letter, but never found any newsletter in my email box, only advertisements, but never the releases of new products, let alone pdf-files on the knives.
I think the people at Vic don't give a sh@t about what we write here, except when someone posts pictures of Vic's not-yet-released products.

I’m glad I got to see that Pioneer X before the images were pulled. Like others, I’ll be interested to see what the price will be...

It's odd that Victorinox monitors this thread diligently enough to get the pre release notices removed... Yet their silence on certain questions is deafening.

Hi Guys

A point of clarification - The request from Victorinox came indirectly via LeaF from the Vic Ukraine rep

Leaf - Please feel free to add details

Ah. Well then, I feel better about it in that case.  It would be awkward to know that Vic has been watching all of our back and forth about the mysteries of their company.

Hi mates,

First of all, I have to apologize for this incident. Very strange and depressive situation

I got these documents (pdf-files) mush earlier, in August, but accordingly to our agreement with Irina, I promised to share them only after these news will be published in their official site (victorinox.com.ua)

In the past we already had similar claim, so, I've asked several times for confirmation and got this approval.

Two days ago, when Irina published these announces, I also shared them in my blog (I have a dedicated part there, when I'm publishing such documents by the years)
Later on I've shared these documents (with link to my blog) on different SAK-specific forums (including MTO) and in several groups in Facebook.

As I saw, some people on FB started to use this information as well, sometimes by sharing pictures without specifying source of information.
Yesterday Irina sent me a message and asked to remove all information regarding future releases due to the request from Victorinox.
Looks that again, that someone submitted a claim directly to the main office of Victorinox; as result - Irina and I removed these articles from our sites and tried to remove all links which are reffering to our pages. As you understand, we were able to do it only with our posts.

I had an additional conversation with Irina, she was shocked and unpleasantly surprised by situation, because she talked before with Victorinox representatives and got approval for them for such publishing.

That's it. Official release of announced knives should be 28-Sep (Year of the Ox at 26-Oct). Theoretically, after this date, I be able to share this information again, but I'm not sure that I'll do it. At least I will try to do not share this information on FB anymore.

Regards,
Alex F (LeaF)

That really is depressing, LeaF.  This is why we can't have nice things.

In the era of social media, the common sense to "Keep this under your hat" isn't there any more.

That's the great thing about MTo.  This has to be the only civil forum left on the Internet.

Discretion is almost non excistance anymore. Especially since Facebook, Twitter etc.
A Dutch verb says: "Your traitor never sleeps". Meaning the betrayal can and will be done by everyone at any time.
I have none of these social media's.

Thanks for the update LeaF.
Bit of a cock-up by Victorinox - Hey? ....which you and Irina got caught up in.

I like that Dutch proverb EMZ - Quite often I find that the same proverb exists in multiple languages, but I had never heard that one before -
It's a bit depressing - But at least worth thinking hard about, if not totally true - Especially in these internet/social media days

I have a similar one - I am not sure if it is an official saying/proverb:
"If you want to keep a secret - Keep it secret"  - ie Don't tell anyone!!
Coz we all know how it goes - Someone says to you, "Don't tell anyone this but ...........",   you then go to someone else and say, "Don't tell anyone this but .........", they go to someone else,   .......  and suddenly the whole world knows!

Anyway the good news is we have some really nice SAKs coming - For me, especially that Christmas Alox!

That foldable kitchen knife is something new. Interesting idea. Question is how easy it will be to clean due to the folding mechanism

Also pass on the black sig lite. Too expensive for something that will most likely scratch easily should I ever put that on a keychain  :ahhh

The folding kitchen knife is a great idea. I use Opinel knives for this purpose.  Culturally, and with various laws around the world ... these seem to fit the bill for anyone who likes to avoid fast food when traveling.  Healthy living!

Now the pricetag on the Onyx edition ...

Just the PX.
Love the scales!
Who could have thunk that Vic would release a different alox patern??
Surely an intern must have sneaked that patern into the CNC machine?!

I wonder how long it takes for someone to complain that it is not strong enough for batoning :P

I have a sheath for one of mine somewhere (never ever used it). It is a great little knife for the price. Not a big fan of the folding variety but with its thin blade and serration it will be a terrific cutter. I actually see this being carried by people to curry rope and stuff.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Who can explain the difference between the new Spartan Black Onyx and the old black Spartan PS?
The only difference I can see is that the Black Onyx has a black tweezer head. Maybe the toothpick will be black also??

The Signature Lite Black Onyx has this mini screwdriver with rulers (cm/inch) on both sides instead of a file on one side. A ruler with a total length of 5 cm... wow...

I am definitely going to try the folding kitchen knife 18EUR should still translate to quite inexpensive in USD.  Should be a good fishing knife. Plus, first new folder from Vic in a long time. Of course, the SpydieChef and other similar blades long predate it.

Interesting about the Autos & Regions knives--I've seen them for months from a German SAK dealer.
