First off I would like to say that I've been looking for the perfect neck knife for a long time. I have a lot of very good knives made by custom makers, but they just didn't suit my needs for a edc neck knife. That all changed when I found out about the Miltner-Adams MA-2/II tactical necker. I simply love this knife! I have both the titanium and 154CM versions because I like the knife so much. The titanium edge is the sharpest ti edge I've ever seen on a ti knife.

Why is the MA-2/II the perfect necker for me? Well... it's because I have large hands and most designs I've seen just don't work for us larger guys. I can hold this knife and know I'm not going to drop it unless I want to, which I find very important in a self defense necker. The ti version weighs a mere 0.9 oz! The 154CM version weighs in at 1.4 oz. If there is one thing I don't like about the knife it would be the sheath. I find the knife a little hard to remove and the whole setup a little awkward at best. Maybe I just need to spend more time with it.

Here are a few quick pictures of the knife:

I love little fixed blades like that.  It kinda reminds of the Hideaway knife, though the blade on yours looks more useful.

I like the look of that.  :)

I recently got a custom necker too.  They are really handy to have.

I love this model, but I'll think I have to pass on it because of the $1000 price tag.  ::)  Maybe Def will buy it for me?  :D

Gawd.  The pictures alone terrified me.  I'm typing this reply trying to keep my neck far away from the monitor.

The Ti version is particularly nice.  Loss of edge-holding seems a small sacrifice, given that the edge (I hope) wouldn't see lots of use and require frequent resharpening...   :o

I also like the non-ferrous "invisibility" factor.

Remind me never to make you angry.  :ahhh

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but does anyone else think that $1,000 is a bit much for a waterjet cut blank and $.50 worth of paracord?

If I was going to buy you something that cost $1,000, I'd buy you something nice!

That's a cool little knife, Gadget Guy. I would definitely do up another Kydex sheath though. BTW, have you looked at Benchmade's 210 Activator series knives? I, too, have big hands and the Activator fits my paws pretty good for a small knife. It's a great neck knife for me.

Hey Gadget Guy,

Your post brought this knife to my attention and I've decided I want (need) one. May I ask where you purchased yours or did you get it directly from Miltner Adams?

Thanks,
John

Any danger of cutting your driving (middle) finger when slashing at a perp?  Seems sharp down at that end in the pics.

I totally see where you're coming from, but if you can see past the "goofiness" you'll find the design has some unique and useful features. I do however find the $450/$1200 prices for the big one to be ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a handy knife for self defense should the need arise. And I do like the look of it. But...

Between the "EXPLOSION BONDED TITANIUM... 21ST CENTURY!!!!1"

And Captain Tacticool McAsskickin there... who looks like a life size GI Joe doll..

It all seems rather silly.

I feel like the design is best suited for cutting monster trucks in half.

I agree with everything you say especially about the design being best used as a fighting knife. It doesn't look like it would be a very practical camp knife. That being said I still want the little necker  :D

I remember in TK mag a year ago he had his folder in it. Looked good with all the gismos on it. It had a built in sharpener, and was compleatly field stripable. Only thing is it was a chisle grind. Is the necker one also?
