Victornox Trekker/Trailmaster OHO non serrated
on: September 11, 2020, 04:53:21 PM
Hi team,

Is this a model Victorinox still produces? Im looking to replace my Soldier with the serrated blade, I can only seem to find the Forrester with a corkscrew or non OHO versions online.

Cheers,

Nope.
Plain edge Trekker is discontinued.
Don't recall when exactly.
One or 2 years ago.

Or you can do what I did...

I grabbed an older GAK, swapped scales from my Sentinel. Had to cut out the area for the Phillips, but it wasn’t hard.

Thanks!  For me though, it would be more to my liking if I could replace the wood saw with the metal saw/file. I have more use for a file than a wood saw.

Add in scissors and we’re all set

Same as I am trying to do with my alox Farmer X. I have sourced the threaded barrels/pivots but need to source a 91mm metal saw/file. Swap out the wood saw and I have a near perfect SAK for ME.

The locksmith, rescue, sentry and one of the hunters has a plain edge oho blade.

Give the serrations a fair chance, before you sharpen the blade and let the serrations wear down to the point where you can sharpen the whole thing to a plain edge .  You might be surprised with the serrations... I was.  They have their uses, and they're well designed

I've seen it when I called a locksmith LINK REMOVED to change a couple of locks at my office. He use this victorinox tool and it looks so smooth, nice and simple but at the same time it was very handy for him. I would say he could manage to change all the locks using only this multi tool but of course it would take much more time.

I'm still waiting for a OHO Outrider or WorkChamp.  Are you listening Ibach? :pok:

I have a OHO non-serrated Forester that I'm thinking about cannibalizing to make a OHO Outrider. Would much rather just buy one from Vic though.

When I was looking around it seemed that it was hit or miss with actually getting a non serrated OHO Forrester so I never took the chance.

They seem to be pretty common at the moment. I'd say buy from somewhere with a good return policy to be safe, and you should be fine.

This too.

….

But short of that, I have to be happy with the ability to convert OHO blades to fit the older Slide Lock frames. Good enough for me.

And the XT, might be a good source for the plain OHO blade…as well as a couple of good lock parts for modders.
