My first 2 modifications
on: September 12, 2020, 12:30:54 PM
Hello again mates. Last days i was working to make my izula 1 stainless knife to look more like a hunting knife than a simple skeletonized neck blade. So i use some sandpaper erase all the letters from the steel and i also polished it. then i use some olive wood, peeled it with teak oil and last i add a brown leather sheath. As for the sheath i maybe cut it a bit so it can fit only the blade and not the whole knife.
My Lm keys have just arrived from loki so i had a broken flat driver on my rebar and i also wanted to add scissors on it. It was not so difficult i use the spacer but the key ring attachment didnt fit. One more problem is that the tool doesnt close good (maybe 3mm space to fully close) but thats because the finger tip of the scissors needs to get grinded or maybe the awl/reamer at the back of the point. One other option is to find a charge frame and use rebars pliers and all the other tools to it. Then maybe make some olive wood handles for it and its going to match with the knife perfectly. Big thanks to all here, especially those who help me and a big thanks to loki for the help and the card postal which it makes me feel part of a group here. So this is the best forum in the globe and im so happy to manage to start my own modifications.

Thanks Steve, I enjoyed the knife making more than the rebar work for now. I am also thinking to buy a morakniv robust 3.2 mm thick blade and maybe add a wooden handle and leather sheath, or maybe use a stainless disc saw to make my own knife from the start. One guy from here tells me ones that finding a tool is a journey not a destination to settle, He was right

My question on my next mod (tools from rebar on charge frame) would be if rebar pliers fit on charge frame with no grinding at all and if the full size phillips would fit. That will take sometime though because i have to search for a charge frame

If you don't grind the Rebar head down to look like the Wave+/Charge+ heads then you have to break the tab/plier rest off inside the handle :ahhh

Steve has ground down a Rebar head and it looks just like the newer + plier heads :tu:

Great job on the mods so far as well :like: :like:

thanks Poncho:) Maybe better brake the plier rest like you said because charge frame looks nice with the rebars big pliers.I think its better idea to start all over again with a new project and totally new tools on it. I will think about it next days. Personally i would like just the screwdriver set (2 or three flat drivers and 1 phillips) then the shank adaptor and the serrated knife with the hook thats what i would like for my tool , so i need more thinking to how i am going to manage that. I am really on the mood to grind the charge wooden handles so it looks like my knife. When i finish that i would like to mod an 85mm wenger model but thats far from now maybe during the winter. Its really a shame i need a sak with a 3/4 serrated blade , the combo can/bottle opener , magnifying glass , scissors and the corkscrew. Almost impossible mod like people are saying to me... Lets see. Anyway thanks for your post i really enjoy being a member here :)

One of my favourite tools i test it was the utica minimaster. I tested it at Germany Hamburg 2 years ago. It was not my tool , somebody just gave it to me to test it. It was the chinese model with the saw on it. Not bad saw actually much better blade and tooth arrangement than a sak. thicker blade cutting fast both ways. The scissors were really bad i think thats the difference from the made in usa tool with the chinese model. So i am searching the internet to find both (chinese and usa model) to mod one piece of a tool maybe by exchanging the tweezers with the saw. If anybody knows where i can find the 2 tools just tell me. I found some on ebay but the price 45 dollars for one used (that price is postal included) is too much for me.
