Finally did a count up.....
on: September 13, 2020, 11:01:19 AM
I joined MT'o  20th January 2012
Prior to which I owned just 3 items

OG Wave
Swisstool
Vic Explorer

Right off the bat, since the day I joined I never once did a count up simply because there were always items either arriving, or in the pipeline. I had a vague idea it was somewhere between 400-700 - just counting the good stuff, not the cheap smurf we all inevitably pick up along the way

Well, yesterday I finally moved all my collection into new storage boxes in the loft. I took the liberty of sorting and counting as I moved  :ahhh

Here goes.... The vast majority is BNIB

Wenger                290  (inc' 102 Rangers, Titanium's, Giants, Porsche's, Minigrips, Realtree's, Evowoods, SoftTouch's, Scouts, Patagonia's etc etc)

Leatherman          111  (inc' 5 folders, 4x Pruners)
Victorinox             102  (inc 3x Road Tour, 6x Butanes etc)
Gerber                    91  (bulk is based around MP650/600/400 series)
SOG                       27  (inc' Palladin trio, Sailing Tool. TiNi's etc)
Bucktool                 23  (inc' 360 & 355 plus Mini Bucks etc)
Schrade                 15  (inc' 6x ViseGrips)
Spyderco                 9  (inc' 4x Spyderench plus Byrdrench)
Tool Logic                7
Bear Jaws               5
Kershaw                  4  (inc' 2x A100)

Total                       684   :ahhh

Just to note that list with the exception of the 5 LM folders and 4 Spyderco's is all either MT's or SAKs  (No knives)

Plus a box containing 30+ quality  misc' items from various brands either USA, UK, Swiss, Japan
Another box of roughly 40-50 items  contains cheap, nasty MT's and tool gadgets, most of which will probably go.

I suppose I need to do a tally of my shop displays, stands, memorabilia. How many?  again no idea..but I guess 50-100

So there you have it.

I joined with 3 items and you enablers  :pok: :pok: have a lot to answer for    :D

I have not done a count in quite some time. Back then, I roughly estimated I was over a 1000 each in multi-tools and SAKs.

I just did a little Leatherman only count as that is my primary focus lately and this is what I roughly counted...

04 tool adapters
01 fold up knife
42 Micra
36 assorted Squirt
18 Sidekick/Wingman
04 MUTs
17 assorted Style
20 Skeletools
04 Skeletool KBX/KB
01 Signal
02 Tread
06 Super Tool
04 Super Tool 200
07 Core
06 Super Tool 300
09 Surge
03 OHT
01 Genus
01 Hybrid
01 Vista Hunter
01 P4
01 P2
34 Charge
28 Kick/Fuse/Blast
01 Crunch
01 Raptor
06 Leap
19 Wave
19 PST/PST II
03 Sideclip
01 Flair
01 Pulse
03 Rebar
03 Juice B2/CS3
27 Juice
05 Mini Tool
26 one piece tool

360 Total Leatherman pieces as of today. That is not taking into account the various leatherman flashlights I have in the collection which number 7.

Counting what I have in my trays does not take all that long. I wince at having to do that for my deep storage boxes full of SAKs. That is time consuming.

EDIT: Just took a quick look at the Gerber section. Roughly 152 Gerbers.

The only places with more Leatherman tools are their factory in Portland, and Amazon's warehouse. :like:

Because I decided to get back into the fray, and because I haven't really collected Leatherman in at least the past 5 years, I have so many newer models to get...

These are the ones available now on the Leatherman.ca website that I do not have as of yet:

Black & Silver Wave +
Charge + G10 Orange
Free T4 in 6 colours
Charge + in 2 colours
Black & Silver Signal
Free T2
Knifeless Rebar
Super Tool 300M in 2 colours
Coyote Rebar
Wave + in 2 colours
Signal in 6 colours
Topo Signal
Skeletool RX in red

Which by my count would increase the collection another 26 if I go for all the colours. I have on order the orange G10 and the red Skeletool RX right now.

They produced so many different variations to collect...what can I say?

If I get a few every pay, it should be ok...but will take a bit of time.

So far, I have bought a P4, a P2, A charge + Forest cammo, a red Charge G10, an orange Charge G10, a green Skeletool, a coyote Skeletool, a black and white Skeletool, a red Skeletool RX, and 3 Skeletool KBX and 1 KB knives. I have been focusing on what Skeletools I can add to the grouping. I think a coyote Rebar and knifeless Rebar might be on tap next round...but who can tell. Thus far, I have bought a few each 2 week pay period. Still got a ways to go.

Sea Monster, apparently Leatherman thought so as well. On my last order, I had to tell them by phone I was not retailing their products before they would ship them to me. It is a good thing I have threads in here about my collection, otherwise, I fear they would have dried my source up this time around. (again)

I think I am good now though.  :tu:

Nice one tosh,
The have decided to stop collecting knives and multitools, and will only buy in the future if it is a discontinued model or being sold so cheap it would be rude not, or I am buying to replace a Broken or worn out primary user.

It is a struggle sometimes, I spent the Last two days eying up various skeletools as a “spare” as my current user is quite beat up. But I have so many “spares“ already. So have told myself I will buy one when and if my current one gives up the ghost.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

I will in time probably photograph the sets I have - but I needed them out of the way whilst de-cluttering. Filled 2 skips (dumpsters) with unwanted clutter

Glad you counted your collection Tosh.  More importantly glad you got it all sorted and stored away nicely.

Thanks Aloha  :tu:
The house is slowly reverting back to the spacious home it once was - feels incredible. The upstairs is 100% devoid of unwanted clutter and has now mostly been redecorated. But I’m now back at work so progress is much slower but I’m getting there.  :drink:

I’m with you Chip
I thank my lucky stars I went for Wenger as now they are gone I can relax and move on. The only items that will tempt me are the LM anniversary models (40th next) I’ll save my pennies and see what comes. But the cost of collecting today in 2020 is way out of my league. To think what I paid for items back in those early days compared to prices now is mind blowing. Besides I think  the whole MT SAK scene has stagnated a little in recent years.
But I’ll keep a close eye on the MT’o boards  to see what developments bring  :salute:

Ironically I’ve gone full circle
The OG Wave and a Vic Explorer are the only 2 items I now have to hand.

I tell a lie...I left a Giant out as a future party piece :drink: it’s one helluva a show piece !!

I really need to get my house rewired soon but I have so much stuff. I have been quite brutal in what clearing out I have done so far but still lots and lots to go.

Luckily all my knives and multitools are under lock and key at my mums house. I have too much “stuff” And not enough money yet find myself browsing the Internet for More stuff I don’t need.

I really can’t see myself parting with any knives or tools soon. I really want to start using them one at a time, although I would have to live to a thousand to get through half of them.

My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.
