Florabest folding saw
on: September 24, 2020, 04:35:57 PM
I looked in this sub-forum for any posts about wood saws, fixed or folding, but found none.

I got this one cheap at an AKI store. Used it only a couple of times, but it works great. Teeth are very sharp, the thin blade performs a very smooth and straight cut. The handle is not the most ergonomic but I used it while wearing leather work gloves and it improved the grip a lot.

Used it in olive and lemon trees. The wood is not the softest but I managed to cut some thick branches fast and with little effort.

The paracord lanyard is great for attaching it to your wrist. You just close the blade and drop it, leaving both hands free to work. When needed, the saw is very easy to deploy, even one handed (having the handlepressed against something).

That looks exactly like mine! :like:
I like it. My blade is a little bent, but still cuts well. I even made a sheath for it.

I've had a Bahco folding saw for years now but I have to admit that I've got a cheaper one that works every bit as well.

much as I love my axes and hatchets, ounce for ounce a folding saw is hard to beat for firewood processing and shelter building etc.

I bought a similar one for $8 from an Australian big box store. I haven't tried it on green wood yet, but it did struggle in dried dead eucalyptus

Try not putting to much force on it. I usually alternate between putting some weight on the blade and just letting it slide over the cut. It keeps the teeth from getting stuck.

From my experience, pretty much anything Bahco works great.

I have one somewhere - it works but it does not have the solid feel of the bahco in use.
It is of-course cheaper.

I've got 3 Laplanders, very reliable. Plus the Bahco bow saw blades are great
