A6 size Notebook cover

Here's one of my favourite works so far. I love notebooks and always have one with me, for notes and drawing.

I usually buy some cheap €1 ones, but they're not very attractive to look at. They don't have a "lock" or a way to carry a pen/pencil.

So, I got me some leather and made this. I like the colour contrast and the feel and smell of the leather. More than once had people asking me where I bought it.

Still some litttle details to improve, as I'll show you later on, but very happy with it as it is right now.

Since not all notebppks have a page marker, decided to put one i the cover. This will need some thinking and improving. It's the part I like less in this cover. The stitching can be seen/felt in the spine. Not much, but enough to bug me.

You can see lots of pen markings inside. This piece of leather was initially meant to be used for making a binoculars pouch. The markings were for the cuts it needed. Glad to have made this instead.

Will go back to that other project later on.

The slit and the two rows of stitching need some rework in the next version:


The shield-like piece in the spine looks nice, but the stitching needs to be less noticeable:

Very nicely made and thought through. :tu:

As for the page marker, the only thing that could be done is stitch it right on top of the cover, everything else would make it stick out more and make for an uneven surface to write on.

Thanks. I tried to give it some texture and highlight the "lock", instead of having it blend in with the rest of the cover. Same reason I got the lighter patch on the spine, to hold the marker.

A 30 day challenge were you have to have at least 2 things clipped to your belt (preferably more). Start a thread and post a picture of your clipped gear each day for 30 days. A fine job indeed! Replacing the leather page marker with some satin ribbon might be an idea to make it less bulky but look decent.
