(I'm adding this rule because I may have something up my sleeve.....knot going to say if I do or if'n I don't but I thought this would be a good rule to add...just in case....which might knot be the case...and I have no idea whut yer talkin' about anyway...so shut up.....Zip....zip....zip it!

Edit: modified for more ambiguous clarity....or something.

I don't think a knot that is used as pure decoration is useful. If a knot's only function is to be decorative.....while it may be a great knot....it will knot qualify as being 'useful' for the purposes of this GAW.

Knot to worry!  If you submit a knot that does knot qualify, you can submit another knot in that same time period (as long as it is during that time period, and knot in a later time period).  Right ...?  ???

Another super cool GAW by Nix!!

I love knots, and learning new ones, however, I can NEVER remember them!  So I'd consider me entering this as cheating, and that would be knotty....

Good luck to everyone, I'll enjoy watching this! :)

I'd love to know a few good knots by memory.  This challenge will be exactly what I need to learn them and commit to muscle memory.  I have a shade sail that I'd like to put up so this will be a great opportunity to learn some purposeful knots.  I'm excited to see what everyone will contribute.

I’m with Nix.

He didn’t saying the challenge had to be knots you already know and have memorized.  It could be practicing and trying  to help others learn knots that you find useful but have a hard time remembering yourself.

Mr. Nix!

Nice challenge idea!

I showed this awesome challenge to my 8yo son, who is a knot fan! He likes to tie knots and even taught me new ones.
He was amazed  with the possibilites to learn new knots (He said the knifes are gougeous).

I learned that one as the "Double Sheet bend". (As opposed to the single, as you pointed out.  :tu:)

And a damn fine knot it is, too!  I often have a loop pre-tied to a bit of kit. The Double sheet bend is the quickest way to bend on (join) another line.

"The essential knot"

Is it all that?  Hard to say. If I had to trust my life on a bend....I have a few others in mind.

Still, an excellent knot to start of the competition!! A personal favorite!!!   :ahhh   :tu:
