Gosh, this has to be one of the most beautiful SAK editions ever. Really really nice. What a treat. Well done Vic and congratulations to all purchasers!

I'm sorry I won't be joining the club. It's enough for me to admire this knife from a distance and see such appreciation for it. Great thread!

Package from Germany arrived on Monday right before I left for work  :D.

Victorinox really did a great job on these, they are absolutely stunning...

Also bought two pair of replacement plus scales with everything included, toothpick, tweezers, pen, mini screwdriver, pin and lanyard. And also bought some extra lanyards, mini screwdrivers and pins.

Excuse my curiosity but, why are you guys buying several copies of them? Just for backups, gifts, collecting purposes, other reasons....?  ???

I'll probably buy a few of them... apart from looking nice and being very useful SAks they will only increase in value as years go by. So if you are feeling poor in 5 years you can sell one and congratulate yourself on your wise investment. Also they are great Xmas presents - who wouldn't want to get one of these from Santa?
So they're a very safe investment for those of us who can't quite afford a bunch of Apple shares, and they're nice objects that will never become obsolete. What's not to like!

Hummm.... Now that's an interesting POV...

I'd honestly would never had thought of it from that perspective. But than again, i'm terrible as a "business man", as for regarding stuff i like, the concept of buying them as an "investment" never even crosses my mind. I guess i'm too much passion driven to think about it as investments or profits.

I bought two to have one for myself and the other will be a stocking stuffer for my kiddo, or possibly for another MTo member if he changes his mind.   But other posters are right either way, these will surely go up in value given a few years.  Shucks, maybe I should buy a third!

Just read this... (been having a very sh*tty week at work, so haven't been able to visit MTO as much as I'd like to).

Hope your order has arrived by now, it's thanks to you that I got my hands on these beauties.

Keep me posted mate  :salute:.

Lovely  :like:

Excuse my curiosity but, why are you guys buying several copies of them? Just for backups, gifts, collecting purposes, other reasons....?  ???

Back in the old days, I only bought one...

But then I noticed that I hesitated to use some of the tools in my collection while carrying them, out of fear of damaging them and not being able to replace them (out of production, limited edition,...).

So I started buying two of each, so I could keep one nib for the collection, and use the other one for EDC.

But in all honesty, I have to confess that, even though I do carry those doubles of some of my "more special" tools, I still never really use them, since I'll always make sure to have one real dedicated user (mostly my red Swisschamp) with me...

These days, if there's a special version of some tooI, I try to get 1 for each of my children (that makes 3 of them), and 2 for myself (see explanation above).  If I can only get my hands on a limited amount of them, like with the Winter Magic Special Edition, I get as much of them as I can, and I guess the kids will just have to divide them when I'm gone....

I never plan on selling any of my tools, in fact, I only sold 1 tool in my entire life, and that was a Leatherman Kick, of which I owned 2, and never used either one of them (and I still regret selling one of them  ::)).

But knowing that, if there ever comes a time that I need money desperately, most of them will be worth more than I paid for them, is good to know, but it's not my goal.

I bought two of the Winter Magic X, and this pretty much describes it for me too:

Good question...

I never bought a double tool brand new from store before.
But when I layed eyes on the first, and they still showed in stock, I had to get a second one!

Investment? User? Trade fodder? We'll see
For now I'm just enjoying 2! 8)

They are still not available at the dealer here.
I will look at them when they arrive.

If they were cheaper they could have made good gifts, but at 90 Euro they are not the type of present you could give to everybody - I might as well give them GECs :)

As for value going up, you never know - plenty will be made and most will remain unused, thus demand may not surpass supply, even in the future.

Also, if they are popular and become a regular item, with new versions every year for Christmas, Easter etc. the novelty may wear off, though you may end up trying to buy older models, in 10 years, to complete the collection.

If you want something that shot in price very quickly try getting the man on the moon model.....

Only 10.000 of these were made, which is half of the Climber Gold 2016.
Speaking of which, went up in price to €120 (MSRP 2016: €60).
And this is Alox...

Once they sold out, and the resellers did their thing, I expect a market for these in a few years.

Not that I'm planning on selling mine if they do...
