I think I have learned a good lesson.
on: October 12, 2020, 04:36:45 PM
I thought I would like to share my photographs to another community. That community was one that came to my attention recently...Reddit. I quickly found out a few subreddits that I thought I would fit in. It would appear however that not all wanted me to share my photographs. I have gotten a few gems from some rather grumpy folks. I posted one of my photo folders in a subreddit and got my fingers slapped for it. Others were down right rude...and others warned me on other subreddits to not take over. There were also a lot of good comments. Overall however, I have a feeling of not being welcomed into the Reddit fold. I think I am going to just stay in this happy space of the internet for now. This just highlights how amazing MT.O is as a community. I think I have learned my lesson.

Have only heard of that site.  Forums from what I hear and in some instances see are like "so-called" cool groups found in grade school.  They are about power trips and ego boosting.  Its a shame Chako however yes MTO is more than appreciative of all the pictures you post here.

Yeah I definitely didn't fit in there either.  Actually, my experience with other forums has shown me just how special and unique MTO really is.  I've given the others up.

Having been on some forums, BBS and what not through the years, and even been part of running one at some point, I can truly say that MTO is one peaceful and enjoyable piece of internet. That doesn't happen by itself so big props to all for making this place what it is.

Hey Chako! Saw your posts on Reddit... I'm only a lurker there, but I enjoyed them! Reddit has some cool "crowdsourcing" features (the upvote, for example)... You got an awesome collection. I'm particularly jealous of that 20th Anniversary Apollo 11 Craftsman.

We may not be perfect, but we try.  There is a great group of Mods here that keep this ship pointed in the right direction and I'm happy to say the membership doesn't give them a lot of grief.

I'm glad you all appreciate it!

I've heard of Reddit, but don't think I've even been on it.  I can't imagine people not being happy seeing all of your pics.  They're high quality pics of a great collection!

On another forum some years ago a guy posted a picture of a new nife balance on his knee. I had to give him a heads up that it might be a good idea to take the pic down. In the background, out of focus but still fully discernible, you could see his wife sitting on the can through the open door of the bathroom.
