SwissTool Spirit Corkscrew?
on: October 08, 2020, 08:37:51 PM
Hi Guys,

I'm inquiring on behalf of a friend who just got a very nice thank you gift of a Victorinox SwissTool Spirit.  He knows I love SAKs so he asked me how the corkscrew is supposed to work, but I've never owned one of Vx's multitools so I don't have a clue.  The owner's manual makes it look like it's detachable.  Does he have to buy it separately?

Also, the end of the metal file on this tool and the lack of a scissor spring looks funny to me.  But I've never held one in my hand and don't know.  Does everything look kosher with this Spirit?

Thanks,

Myron

Yes, the corkscrew is bought separately, and when in use it slides in the hole in the middle of the handle when you turn it sideways.

The file is ok, and the scissors spring should be integrated on the other side

I have a few of those corkscrews somewhere but somewhere is 3 stories below so I'll post some pics tomorrow if you want to see how it works.

I thought maybe I could help, since I also own (several) Spirits and one of those corkscrews for them, but I see Enki got it covered already  :tu:.

When I get home from work tomorrow I'll check this topic and if by then there is still no pic I will dig up my Spirit corkscrew from my collection  and try to take some pics  ;).

The corkscrew does not come with the Spirit X, only the XC (that has the butter blade) Plus kits. Don't know why they don't offer a Spirit X Plus kit option, but it can be bought as a spare part B.1013

I have a regular Spirit and a corkscrew but had trouble figuring out where to store the corkscrew without scratching the Spirit. Finally took some small flexible vinyl tubing, pushed the corkscrew into the tubing and shoved that into the Spirit’s sheath. It’s a tight fit. Suggestions for a better solution would be welcome. Thanks.

Theres a plus sheath that has a loop that fits the corkscrew and wrench.

and here is the part I found tricky...go figure.  :D

If you have a Swiss Tool, you have to rotate the corkscrew 180 degrees for it to fit in.

I had no issue with the Swiss Tool...but struggled a little when it came time to fit it to a Spirit.
