countrydirt, I think it would be reasonable if before you could participate you should be required to send your knife to me for extensive safety and quality assurance testing. This testing might take a really, really, really long time to complete, no telling how long.

:ahhh :ahhh                                          :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
Anyone else wanting to join in is welcome. Just add your name to the list.  Carry any folding hunter other than a Buck 110 as your primary cutting tool for a month.  Come on now, you know you want to. :pok:

DAY 1:

First of all, I got an extra 6OT as a part of a "POS Exchange" another forum did as one of the "few good knives" we should expect to get. This one has been used and carried, unlike my other one. Thus, actually using it is not a problem.

\

I opened up the spare battery to my new Axial SCX-24 '67 Chevy C-10 crawler.  I have three spares, with two aftermarket batteries expected to show up today and then the official Dynamite-brand battery Horizon Hobby sells for the SCX-24.  I figure that in two hours, when it's done charging, it will be a bit warmer so that I can run it.  I think I ran the truck a half-hour yesterday, so I think the battery in the truck is coming close to running out.  I am going to have to find a proper box to use as a pit box. I have a Sterlite with removable trtays that should work great, but currently, it's a LEGO project box. I checked the local Dollar General, and I kid you not, there was not a single smaller plastic storage box in the whole store.

I've been doing some seasonal rearranging, and stuff's still a mess.

Also, I have a question---can I use a Mercator in this challenge? I have one coming, and it will most certainly be lighter than a regular Folding Hunter. It's sort of  Germany's proto-110 in my opinion.

:like: Good to see some update on the SCX24 as well as seeing the 60T.  I have recently taken up the interest to collect more 'Traditional' knives/brands, and am looking forward to see how the 60T perform in a month time.

If it is a direct competitor of the 110 then I don't see why not. Also, besides remembering to state what day you're posting I would appreciate if everyone would say what knife they are using in their posts because even though you may have mentioned it when you signed up we can't all remember everything that far back.

Good start everybody.
The Schrade 60T is an ounce lighter than the Buck 110, at 6.01 ounces to the Buck's 7.02.  It's also just slightly longer than the Buck so it wouldn't fit in the Buck sheath.  Fortunately I did have a large enough Schrade sheath even though the original leather sheath is long gone.

Sorry guys, but I'm going to take a break. I've been doing back-to-back challenges for a while and just felt the time was right to step back for a while.

I had planned to carry and use this Gerber Gator for the challenge. The Gator went out with me today on a nice long hike into the hills. Saw a herd of 7 mule deer, several raptors, chipmunks, insects and wildflowers. Great day....though I'm a bit tired this evening.  :D

I may try to jump in from time to time with a post as the Gator gets used. It's a great knife and I have no doubt it would rock a 30-day challenge.   :tu:
