Also, just ordered my first fixed blade... so I think I have at least one of every tool category now. I have to EDC some sort of blade for work. I'd like to think that besides "fun", this challenge can push me to leave my traditional carry behind and try to see if I can get by (or even learn to love) carrying a different category of tool. The Minimal SAK challenge has really made me realize that my Tinker is more usable than my traditional folder... albeit significantly less fun to "fidget" with.

I also love poker...

I'm having a great time with these challenges, although I think my wife thinks I'm crazy taking pictures of my knife all of the time!  Just to clarify - the trads/folders category just means a folding blade without a bunch of extra tools?  Then I'm in!

Yes....don't worry, everyone's housemate, roommate, spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, and awl of thems.....they think you're mad at first, then they get used to it. Eventually they start reminding you to take a photo or pointing out photo ops.   :D

And, yes, the Trad/Folder category cover traditional folding knives like a Stockman or a modern folding knife like a Spyderco.   :tu:

You only need one fixie.

(And even that can be a kitchen or utility knife....)

Now, if you were to draw two pair, and two of the cards that make up those two pair are Spades, you could use up to two fixies. But you only need one.

For example: let's say you have 8 of Diamonds, 8 of Spades, Ace of Diamonds, Ace of Spades, and a Jack of Hearts. That's two pair. So, you could select four tools for that portion of the challenge: two SAKs and two Fixies. If you only have one SAK (what is wrong with you?) and one Fixie, you would just use those for that portion of the challenge (until your hand changes). Someone else might be able to rotate through a pair of SAKs and two kitchen knives.

The bigger problem is that you just drew the Dead Man's hand......  :dwts:
