A touch cheeky this, I know, but.... Having finally got my hands on some juicy orange scales  :woohoo:, I can now complete my Alox Rainbow! I’m sure others here can also complete one (I’m sure someone has already shown one earlier this year, but can’t remember who  :facepalm:) so now is the time to show yours too.

Isn’t it time we had a badge for this? Can the Moderators or someone skilled at badge creating please make one, and even prettier please can I have one!  :D

Nice! I am jealous, I am just starting to collect Alox Pioneers, where do you find the ones with the neat colors? I have seen some on Ebay but the prices are crazy on some of them.

I hate to say it but it was a question of patience - hunting the alox colour shop in Berlin, Essen, Switzerland and the annual releases from Victorinox themselves. I started in 2015 when the year knives started, and folks on here can be very helpful with suggestions on the alox forever thread. Only one that came from EBay out of these was the original Nespresso which did cost too much, but I’m an aloxoholic, and I needed it for the Nespresso set.... :facepalm:

A few years ago Alox in a *wide* variety of colors was relatively easy to come by.  For good or ill, Victorinox decided to offer special colors only in their annual series, limiting dealers to ordering "standard" colors.  Collecting colored Alox got very expensive very quickly.

On a more positive note, collectors--especially those seeking to find all the colors of a specific model--were growing frustrated by the fact that colors from different batches weren't entirely consistent, causing much confusion as to whether one color was different from another...or whether two "different" colors were actually the same.

Excellent idea for a badge ...and pretty darn tricky to achieve!
Not so long ago there was no constraint on the colours available to shops... if they wanted 100 mint-green Bantams, Victorinox would make 'em. At one point, one of those shops in Germany had Pioneers and Farmers in every colour under the sun...multiple shades of blue and green, various shades of yellow, at least one brown and burgundy.
Suddenly Victorinox decided they were being way too cool about this. They realised they could reduce the easily available colour palette to Boring Red, Boring Black and Boring Blue - and all the fun colours would disappear entirely, other than in the shape of limited edition Pioneers, one different colour every year. So making a rainbow with these things went from being super-easy (if you had couple of hundred euros) to incredibly difficult even if you're loaded.

I tried to make a 74mm alox rainbow but failed miserably. Orange is non-existant (in 74mm in general) and purple/violet doesn't exist in alox as well (as far as I know). I apologise for the pink-ish cellidor.

I think it’ll be even harder to complete in sub 93mm alox - I’m sure I’ve some orange scaled 58s, but no purples..... Anyone got some to show?  :pok:

Participate in a challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Cybertool (any variant), Swisschamp, Champion or Toolchest for thirty (30) consecutive days.
