What to do with a Gerber 605 with failing Santoprene on each end?

Found a Gerber 605 with unused blade but Santoprene handle that looks like a dog chewed on it. Underlying plastic sound. Paid $4.00 for it to see if anyone had any ideas about what to do with the handle? Any ideas other than toss it would be appreciated. Thx in advance.

Maybe cut off the rest of the santoprene and then try to wrap it with paracord? Never tried it myself, but saw some videos of people doing it.

Edit: Oh, just noticed that it is a folder. Guess that will not work  :(

Get someone to either make G10 or wooden handles for it. That would look good.
A little Leatherman information.

Chako,

I have a few wood tools left from my wood working days. May give that a try for fun. These 605s are too good to toss.

I'm not entirely sure what santoprene is, and what would bond to it - but you could try getting some construction polyurethane or silicone or somesuch and try to fill in and shape it...
