But I've been thinking about getting a powerlock/power-assist.  What has prevented me has been the cost, especially from local non-internet sources(Leatherman prices has spoiled me).  And with the employee"abuse" accusation against Amazon.  I'm leary of giving them my money until that controversy has been remedied.

And Ebay does have a bit of "buyer beware".

Who can I turn to??

And Ebay does have a bit of "buyer beware".

There's always that fraction of a chance something can go wrong...but a sellers feedback speaks volumes IMO.  If the listing is from an ebay "store" and looks professional and they have a TON of positive feedback, I woulden't hesitate to buy from them.

I do recall seeing a Powerassist at a Bass Pro Shops so if you have one near you it's worth a look...and the standard Powerlock can be found at Lowes like LM123 said..

Have you tried emailing Tim (felinevet) or Marc (edcdepot) ???  They can usually order stuff for you if it's something they don't carry.

I agree with Corrugated. I have been buying MTs and other items from Ebay for 5 years. No prolems at all. Just take the time to read the feedback. It is a great indicator of the sellers reputation.

I wouldn't worry too much about the employee abuse thing if it's the complaint you read about here.  That was Amazon UK, and honestly it sounded pretty sensationalized to me.

Agreed, that kind of journalism needs to be taken with a lump of salt.

Yeah, I though that piece of "journalism" lacked much substance tbh, it won't stop me ordering from Amazon. Another way of looking at it is if there was a boycott of Amazon - it would be those same poor employees that got laid off!

I agree with the comments about ebay too, feedback is everything. If you're buying new, from a seller with loads of feedback, you'll be very unlucky to end up with a bad deal. Pay with paypal, and you'll get your money back should anything go wrong.
I used to come here a lot.

If not new beware of the use of stock images and blurry photos, what are they hiding?  Don't just go by the sellers percentage either.  Take one minute to read through the feedback comments as well, they can often be more informative than the feedback percentage.

Just my 2p :)

In all of my eBay shopping sprees, I have never once been cheated out of an item. Some of the sellers I've dealt with have since been banned, but my personal experience has been nothing but positive. I'll vouch for eBay any day.  :salute:

Plus it is easier to send it back to Lowes for replacement. Better than mailing a toll and waiting 3 weeks.
