FolderBeholder, my deepest condolences for all your losses...

As it was already written above, you can once again carefully look through the entire collection (this is how I found several SAKs that I considered lost).
Also the knife may fall through the wall of the drawer into the cabinet. You can check by removing all the drawers from the cabinet.

Or you can use folk remedies. For example, tie a handkerchief around a chair leg at night and say: "Brownie, play with the thing, but bring it back." Sometimes it helps.

(I understand you very well, I myself lost at home two very valuable for me metal boxes a few years ago. )
Thank you Nick4.
I have never heard of that folk remedy you mentioned.  I am at the point where I will try that tonight!
In the trap/drain of the washing machine is always worth a look.
Haven't checked there!  Will try now.  If I don't report back, you'll know I'll be busy looking for a handkerchief.  :D
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

This just might be the consequence of being a collector.

I have this problem from time to time. I found it helps to be certain that nothing is misplaced in a box before closing it.

Took me months to find the ‘63 CAS/SAC knife with the conical awl. I put it in an 84mm ‘for repair’ box by mistake.

Not sure that would help, but I wish you luck FB!

That is where I went wrong.  I have the box that the Bantam goes in, but it's empty.  Lesson learned for sure!

This reminds of the time I put on a shirt that I had not worn for a few yrs.. Found 200.00 in cash in the pocket..

You should wear that shirt more often...

Did it fall behind a drawer? Happened to me once (with just an empty SAK box and an IKEA BESTÅ cabinet).

You silly boy! How did you managed to fall behind a drawer?!

 :D :D

Two more ideas, FB:

Do you have a pet that might have taken the SAK and hide it somewhere?

Have you looked inside your vacuum cleaner?

 :(

Maybe you have to think about the other boxes you might have opened the last time you had the Bantam out?

I really feel for you. I get quite irrational when I misplace things.

Sit in the area for a moment.  DO your best to not think about your knife.  When you are relaxed then go thru all the processes you CAN remember when taking that picture.  STOP each time you cannot recall exactly your process.  At that moment let your thoughts naturally flow.

I'm sure its in a random location and I'm equally sure you'll find it and have a good laugh.

I was enjoying the peace and quiet.

I’m beginning to see the appeal.

Maybe if I just let people know I’m looking for misplaced knives and not to worry.

I appreciate your ideas!  I do have two dogs, but they have no interest in my collection from what I can tell.
The vacuum gets emptied each week, so that isn't an option at this point.

Hey, have them smell the box and look for the SAK!

That's one handy trick to every SAK and dog owner on the forum..."go find me the missing 2 layers 91mm with carbon fibre scales"  :D

I’m following this saga with much interest.

Good luck!
Same here, best of luck on the find!  Maybe it is hiding itself till Christmas day?  Oh, wait, maybe it is hiding with Christmas decorations?

(Image removed from quote.)
The 58mm one has been found...
It must be close to where you found that one.
You're sure you didn't put it in a standard grey Vic box?
I know I once "lost" a SAK by putting it in such a box and sort it with "the other boxes"

The box has "Bantam red" on the side label, so clearly purchased to customize.

Also a QR code is present and some Chinese symbols
