Where does your SAK sleep??
on: March 01, 2022, 03:02:48 PM
Just made this custom knife box for my SAKs. I like it but not 100%. The foam I used is very ruff and I feel like it could scratch the scales a little bit. So I would like to see how others store there Saks or display them. In hopes that someone can give me a better idea for an insert that can be cut out to each knifes profile. But also be able to keep each knife level or flush with the other knifes because each one is thicker or skinnier than the next...
so let's see how you store your saks[/size]

Buy a satin cloth (in black) and put it between your saks and the foam. They will look like jewelry.

My SAKs never sleep!!
Nah, most just live on my desk at the minute, with one or two in pockets depending on rotation.

I'll build a rack once I have enough of them and decide how to lay them out... and get the time to actually build it!

An old pic, but on the side of the bed on something I made a long time ago, funny thing is I keep adding more things to it, like the watch rack, and the light with outlet, of course there’s the other goofy thing I painted, it was a chi pet but the Mrs screwed up and I said well I’ll take it make it look cool,

That's a pretty cool shrine, box, thing, MP. Any that I'm currently rotating are in my nightstand, in a plastic box that holds all sorts of random crap. Coins, a couple small flashlights, a stylus, a couple other knives, my ear buds. Keeps it all together.

I recently updated my storage solution thanks to a redecoration of the bedroom. It was actually my wife’s idea :o My thanks to her and IKEA.

My EDC rotation knives and tools including SAKs are on my dresser in an old wooden crate divided by toilet paper rolls. The knives that I don't carry are either in drawers or out where they are used most often such as the half dozen or so that live on my desk. I know it's not stylish or decorative, but it is practical and convenient.

My SAKs have different "sleeping arrangements" depending on the role they play. If they're not users and I have their original box, they stay in said box (until I can get hold of a good cat-resistant display case). Non-users without original boxes are stored in a knife roll or (in the case of 58mm knives) wrapped in a piece of old T-shirt. Users go in a knife roll, or in their box if they're too big to comfortably fit in the knife roll. The great thing about newer 58mm boxes is that two SAKs can fit in one box...

Those are awesome! Did you have to make the liners yourself?

Thanks FX :tu:

The watch cases come like that with a bendy felt covered insert for wrapping your watch around, so just remove the insert and good to go

With the drawers I added the felt liner but again almost made for the job…they’re made for haberdashery but great size for MTs

My SAK box is an old cigar humidor.  As these are intended as users I don't worry too much about scratching.  My keepers are kept in another box, wrapped in paper inside small ziplock bags.

This is more like what I had in mind. Do you know if it comes in different sizes to fit the other size knifes a bit more snug? Where could I find this or something similar? Ebay came up with stuff that didn't look similar or good.

Besides my knife box from the original post. I also use these plastic divider boxes that can be adjusted to size, that I got from a container store.

Mine sleep in my right front pocket, along with whatever else I'm carrying, usually at least a large stockman or a moose pattern.
