Hello from Massachusetts.
on: November 16, 2020, 02:46:42 AM
Hi everyone, I think I used to be a member here years ago. Long gone name and email address.  I’ve been collecting knives now for 40 plus years and into knives longer than that. Naturally I’m also addicted to multi tools. I’ve tried them all and settled on Leatherman for “The Brand”. I recently bought a MiniChamp in Alox. It opened the door for more Victorinox, like the Pioneer X. Now I’ve progressed, rapidly I might add, to vintage Swiss Army Knives. Started out years ago collecting customs and transitioned to slipjoints and then antiques. I always took Swiss Army Knives for granted. The Pioneer and the MiniChamp convinced me otherwise. Quality is incredible. I hope to post up some good conversation. I’ve already learned a few things from the few posts I’ve been in already.

Welcome aboard! :waving:

My first knife was a sak, but when I got older and started working I decided to switch over to a multitool, was the first gerber, but then ended up switching to leatherman, but since no longer working and not needing a set of pliers, I went back to sak, originally trying a my first alox, a farmer, and I was hooked! I figured if I need a set of pliers get the real thing, you don’t need a posable break multitool plier which I’ve done, so I ended up getting the pioneerX when it came out and has been my edc ever since, yet the farmerX has come out but I won’t get it till Xmas,, :(  but I think will be perfect for me! So I think Sak’s are perfect for an edc and depending on what tools you need you just pick a diff model!

Welcome.  A SAK is hard to beat for its utility.  If one has gone thru the phases of sharp things and has never put a SAK into their pocket it can be a whole new world.  If a SAK was put into the pocket but the custom or other sharps took precedent I can see how the SAK is not highly regarded.  I'd imagine once the realization that a SAK is a very well made tool and its utility is taken advantage of then the gates open to all things SAKs.  Enjoy.

Probably by my Bladeforums name Navihawk. I’m sure there’s more than a few here that would recognize the name. Mostly traditional posts.
