Is this what they should be...? Part 1. Angler
on: November 30, 2020, 08:18:01 PM
I’ve been doing the minimal SAK challenge for a month - very enjoyable but even though I wasn’t carrying more than 2 layers it didn’t stop me making a couple with more! Had a few bits left over from other builds but I also split an old Swiss Champ for the sexy bits and made 2 new ones from it.

Classic models with the all the bits I think they should have in them.

This is the first an Angler Deluxe Plus whatever... ;)

Basically an angler with both pliers and scissors, Phillips and file on the hook (for sharpening hooks!!)

I think it comes together as a really nice looking and feeling tool.

I tried stainless pivot pins on this one too...work great but never again! So hard to peen I thought I might break the little brass scale stud collars before I got the thing tight. Luckily got there in the end  :woohoo:

This one is going as gift to my sisters husband who is a mad keen carp fisherman.

It’s not pretty and I won’t be doing it again anytime soon but yep...here’s the proof. I think it gets so work hardened as you are doing it that if you started with the pin even a fraction of a mm over length you’d struggle!

Great job! It's a beauty!
I love fishy Saks even though my idea of fishing is grabbing a carton of Fish Fingers from the deep freeze...

Me too. I think the descaler is an unusual tool that also just makes them a bit weird which is half the appeal.
