Worth of Wenger Dynasty knife
on: November 23, 2020, 04:31:35 AM
I was wondering what some might think this is worth??

Owner calls it a Wenger Dynasty Executive, but research shows it to possibly be the Dynasty series Merlin. Says locking blade.

Is it worth anything?  Doesn’t look brand new but not worn out either.  Owner says brand new??

Opinions??  This is in the US, by the way...

The locking blade bit is nonsense. It looks like to me like a normal Wenger Esquire... Maybe there is something super collectable about it that I am unaware of but I would guess it's worth 10-15 dollars or so.
I could be wrong of course!

:iagree:  Brand new??!! Looks pretty scuffed up to me, and as TP says - locking blade? Not on that model, I don’t think.

It does lock though, no nonsense :)

:salute:

It's a rather uncommon knife (same goes for the "regular" Viceroy model). One of Wenger's unusual inventions :)

Is it really worth $35 US?

Amazing! I never knew they'd really put a locking blade on such a teeny-weeny penknife!
In which case it's certainly not just a boring old Esquire. I'm intrigued to know how the locking mechanism works...
Sorry for spouting the wrong answer with such confidence earlier!

If I remember correctly a lot of them ended up with broken locks as folks forced the blade closed not knowing about the locking mechanism and how it works. :(

I've seen the same issue on some older MTs that required you to partially open another tool to unlock the fully open component.  It obviously appealed to minimalist designers, but fell down in usability with anyone unfamiliar with the unlocking procedure.
