Bond & Curl--possible leak?
on: November 22, 2020, 04:32:05 PM
So, I was on the LM site getting a clip for the Free T2 I just ordered; and noticed something odd. On the list of compatible tools; in addition to the K, P, and T series models are two models that don't exist at present, called the "Bond" and "Curl".   I've seen reference here about these before, as LM had I think previously trademarked these names, and they've popped up on compatible item lists for multiple accessories.

Perhaps 2021 offerings?  "Curl" sounds like it could be a new surf tool.

Interestingly, they are also listed for the Heritage sheath... so no OPT?

And the Bond Patent application also indicates a "real" multitool.

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

A bond,
Would be used to dispatch a villain, free a heroine by cutting her ties. And then remove her dress.

It’s a tribute  to sir Connery.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

No pics yet but found partial descriptions based on their trademark applications.

From:  https://incfact.com/company/leathermantoolgroup-portland-or/#

BOND
Folding multipurpose hand tool comprised of multiple blades and one or more of the following hand tools: scissors, pliers, wire-cutter, wire stripper, straight screwdriver, square head screwdriver for driving screws with recessed heads, saw, file, can opener, and bottle opener; and fabric and leather sheaths and carrying pouches therefor   (it ends there for some reason) 03/24/2020

CURL
Folding multipurpose hand tool comprised of multiple blades and one or more of the following hand tools: scissors, pliers, wire-cutter, wire stripper, straight screwdriver, square head screwdriver for driving screws with recessed heads, saw, file, can opener, and bottle opener; and fabric and leather sheaths and carrying pouches therefor   03/24/2020 (This description ends mid sentence too).

So we know what they will do but not what they will look like yet.

A Philips screwdriver is missing from the Bond and Curl descriptions.

Looks like a generic description. I’m more aggravated that it doesn’t say bit driver.

I wonder if these are Juice replacements.

That is very possible  :tu: Hopefully something really good as a replacement if that is so :salute:

Passes popcorn.

I sure hope we hear more soon.  I have to admit I am hesitant to use my older Juice models for fear they'll give me a newer one or something else if I send a broken one in.  I had to send one in before a few years ago and got a newer one back.  The back spring broke so real or not I am a bit worried should any issue arise with my Juices.

You can always buy a beater old C2 Juice, they usually go for not so much as the others, and harvest backsprings. If I remember correctly they slide in with relative ease.

Yes you are correct.  Thats a great option  :tu:.  I rarely see Juice models sold at the flea market.  Thanks for reminded me of the back spring swap.  I'll keep that in mind for sure.  I have a PRO that begs to be used but I was apprehensive.

SHOT for this year was cancelled, and I know it's fairly early in the year, so I'm guessing we'll see something posted about these pretty soon. I'm not on social media; and it seems a lot of companies post new release stuff on Instagram, but I can no longer get in there without an account, which I don't want. But, I've noticed some pages work, others don't; and they're all public.

We'll have to wait and see. I'm curious if we'll see something similar to the Free system or maybe an updated version of it, opening of the tools with more ease (specially the blades) , some sort of adaptive tool etc.

I see that some of the big knife makers like Benchmade and WE just dropped their new products for 2021. I would expect LM to possibly next week.

Shot Show was supposed to be this week and that’s when they usually introduce new products. I hope they release info about them tomorrow.
