The ruler appears to be on the outer piece of the handle for the Bond.  You can see it on one of the pix from REI.

Well spotted, thanks Tsquare  :tu:

Looking forward to it!  If you can do some side-by-side shots with a Rebar that would be excellent.  :tu:

thanks I tried to post pics here but they don't let me upload because of pic file size..who has 500mb images any more

the tool is a major surprise, 14.5mm at widest point which is 2mm narrower than a rebar.

I have to wonder whether a non locking blade whose handle doesn't allow it to actually close will be considered non locking by carry laws which disallow locking blades?

Oh. Good point.... the fact that you cant close the blade without first unfolding the handle will make it “locking” in the eyes of some laws.  The opposite handle may be seen as a “lock”.   Ive heard that argument used against the Micra.

I don't like to gloat, but I did call it on the handle width.  :D  You can all bow down to my powers of observation any time you like.  ;)

Great video Max and very much appreciated.

So, let me first say that I am not a lawyer if any kind, this is only my opinion and "Gareth said..." isn't going to help you in court.  With that said, here in the UK at least, the restriction on "without good reason" being applied to locking knives comes from a court case where it was successfully argued that a locked blade effectively becomes a non-folding/fixed bladed/sheath knife and all the restrictions on those were retroactively applied to locking knives.  My opinion is that it would be very hard to argue that a PST, Micra, Bond etc are in any way like a fixed bladed knife.  It's up to the individual to decided for themselves but I've never been concerned about carrying any of them where I live.

I’ll admit. I’d be the first one to try the Gareth Said defense in court.

The best part is that it looks so similar to the PST on the back...very cool.

I have been wondering whether scissors would not make more sense than the file. It's a very 'urban light carry' type of MT and the file doesn't seem to fit somehow but scissors would round it out nicely.

Dunno, I suppose it depends on whether a 'rather broken and wobbly fixed blade' would be enough to still be considered fixed. I'd hate to have it decided after the fact by an idiot magistrate.  ::) I can see said magistrate deciding that the problem with a fixed/locking blade is that it can be used for stabbing without injuring the user (unlike a slipjoint), that this design does not solve that problem sufficiently to disuade such use and as such might be used for such nefarious purposes like all the other evil locking knives.

hah, It only took them how long to come up with someone that should have been in their lineup since 1998?

As a benefit to LM, they now have something they can replace any PST/II/Kick/Fuse(?) that come in.

They were probably getting sick of handing over Rebars for those warranties....

I can see this one being used by some guy in a black tie suit.
