Knife and its History Book
on: December 01, 2020, 06:53:54 PM
I'd really like to have a copy of this book.  Has anyone found it for less than $450?

Holy smurf indeed!

I bought it on eBay for a tiny fraction of that price in very good, almost mint condition. I guess the trick is to find a seller who has no idea what it is, because I also saw it at an even crazier price when I was on the hunt for it. Perhaps one can find it at generalist second hand bookstores as well outside of eBay (online or brick and mortar).

The following offering is also a bit crazy, IMO, but it's less than $450:

Yes, I did!
You can buy mine for only $ 449! And maybe I also give a 5% discount. Ain't that a good deal...?

No, seriously, asking 451 dollar for a not so rare book is outrageous. I bought my copy for about $40 in Switzerland (2019).

Find it and protect it, it keeps skyrocketing in price.  :salute:
Perhaps one can find it at generalist second hand bookstores as well outside of eBay (online or brick and mortar).
That's probably where I will find it more reasonably priced.
I know someone who wants €25 and I have been holding off
Time to look into that screaming deal!

Nice price.  I think my buy price is $75 or lower, probably wishful thinking.  :salute:

Apparently they're hard to find.  At least they're hard to find at a reasonable price.  :hatsoff:

It is a good book if you can source a copy without having to sell the children.

I had to go take a look for it as I haven't seen it in almost a decade...still in the collection drawer with a few more Victorinox books. Here are some photos taken just now.

there should be an inside piece of parchment paper with this on it.

Yes, from 2000.  It's painful Lisa...but not nearly as much as the Vic book.
I'd love to have that Anniversary book too.  You'd think it would have a limited appeal, mainly us collectors and SAK lovers.  The price is definitely shocking.

Dear God, that’s expensive
I paid less than a tenth  for mine 4-5yrs ago .
If that’s what the market value is then I dread to think what the Wenger version will fetch - holy smoke!!
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

There certainly is
A Fervour Over Knives
It is extremely scarce. I paid $500 back in 2013. As I recall only 2,500 copies were ever printed, of those I think 900 were in English. A few members here have a copy I believe.

I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Sorry but due to the low file sizes allowed for uploading, the quality is pretty poor
A few more shots on the Wenger book
Hope you can read some of the text.

Update: I did buy one this morning on eBay.  Had to pay $140 plus shipping.  It has the letter and the protective sleeve.  Seller says it was opened only to take photos.
Paid a lot more than I wanted to, but the longer I wait the harder they are to find and the price will keep going higher.
