I purchased this in a recent auction.  Solid little hammer. Made in Japan.

Wow, I have never seen this. I think it seems more like a mountaineering tool (ice ax?) than a hammer.
I think it's a pretty old tool, but it's very beautiful.
You seem to have more old Japanese tools than I do.  :o
I envy you!

Hi Hiraboo,

It does look like an ice axe or ice pick, but it would only be useful to Lilliputians.  :D. It is the same length as a standard iPhone so 5-6 inches.   Do you recognize the manufacturer?

I love unusual multi tools. The more unusual the better. It appears a lot of multi tools manufactured in Japan were made for export.

Hi Yadda,

Unfortunately, I don't know about that mark (combination of "as" and "・" ?) and manufacturer.  :( I will tell you if I find anything about.

As you say, a lot of multi tools and pocket knives manufactured in Japan were made for export than domestic use. There are few documents left in Japan about exports before the 1980s. The tools and knives of that era are relatively cheap, so it seems that not many Japanese are interested.  :dunno:
Oh, but I am very interested in that!

So, not only is your collection unique, it is also of great historical value.   :tu:
Thank you sharing precious information!

I'd say it might be a geological hammer.

I might have seen it before here somewhere, it looks familiar, but it might take time to remember.

I see something similar in google pics search. If so, it's really tiny, 4,5in?
