I'll post up a pic here tomorrow, though the scissors are... well useless unless you put pressure against the back spring?  They just bind up and stick together, from the feel of the jaws closing the serrations rub too, which doesn't seem the case on larger scissors...

Anyone any ideas how to remedy this?

I had the same issue with the Vic Wenger's scissors when it arrived... It seemed like the two arms were grinding together. Then suddenly, during one moment of playing around with them, I heard something pop into place and they've worked perfectly ever since. :dunno: It might be worth just having a regular "play" with them and seeing what happens?

I'll keep playing with them and see what happens, thanks!

 :like: do like those scales

Funnily enough after my comment yesterday, I received an old Esquire I'd ordered some time ago  :mail: and sure enough jamming scissors just as you described.

I found it was gunked up with some dirt, so much like MichaelGT83 described, I was able to free them just by playing with them a bit. I'm sure you've tried that BTW, but I can see what you mean, devilish little blighters!

Playing around and comparing to my larger model I think it's an issue of tolerances, the serrations are just providing far too much friction, when they shouldn't rub at all. the small spring just can't provide the resistance to overcome that friction in reverse, thus binding closed.

Understanding this, I've now sorted it, I dropped as little 85wt nano oil as possible on the detent track and tried to work it into the pivot of the jaws and they're now useable. You can still feel them wanting to bind up at a certain point, but the oil is enough to get them past that and open/close properly.

Not ideal (oil will be everywhere for a while whilst using it  :ahhh) but now I can look forward to using it fully  :tu:

I also find it interesting that the file is very obviously an unground blade blank, it even has the sharpening notch, one way to cut down on small batch production I guess

Think you’re probably right re the small spring, glad you’ve found a solution

The file being a blade blank is a very good observation, hadn’t actually occurred to me before but now I can’t unsee it

Here’s a couple of pics of the esquire and absolutely match spot on, it’s the same with the Vic Delemont version as well, which isn’t surprising considering it’s just a rebadged Wenger

…what has changed between the Wenger and VIC versions though apart from the T&T on the scales is the position of the key ring and the file is a little different

Shame DTL, if it arrives soon after the start no problem running a bit late just need to record your days differently from the majority, don’t think you’d be by yourself and sure we’ll continue to follow along :tu:

I am very much enjoying the little file on my EvoGrip.  Instead of the small blade.
I am a Massage therapist,  Doctor of Alternative Medicine,  and Acupressure SpeSmurfpillst.

Hence....you guessed it folkes.   ACUpressurePHYSician. AcuPhys.

The 1 because my late son
Invented the acronym in my honor,  and Took it for his own.  So I honor him. I had just given him his first SAK, a super Tinker.

That is me and my son Benjamin on Father's day,  Sedona Arizona .  He wanted to dress just like me.

He died from a heroin overdose a week later.

Sorry to share that. Just felt like I had to.

When I was 19, my Dad gave me his. US Army SAK from his service in the Korean War

Most of the tools never opened,  he Actually used them.  Just the two blades even though I have tried to refurbish them..

So...is this considered a Delemont,  Victorinox,  USArmy knife....???   Does anyone know?

No DTL still on this thread but for example, if we’re all on Day 14 and you start then, you’d label your post Day 1 etc and just continue until you’ve done 30 days even though the rest of us would have finished

Frenchephaistos is waiting for the Commander he won in the Delemont GAW to arrive before he starts so don’t think you’ll be alone

BTW Frenche got a message yesterday from Australia Post saying it’s arrived in France so you should have it soon mate
