I'd argue that with the Rambler, Manager, and Midnight Manager being extremely similar (main layers identical -- only changes the scale tools), they could be considered one of the best with a combined 13 votes.  :D

I'm a little surprised the corkscrew models seem to be so preferred over the T-Phillips versions.

True, those 3 SAKs are nearly identical but the scale tools. I would still keep them separate though, they have different names after all

Not too surprised about the corkscrew models. Whenever there is a discussion about CS vs. backside Philips, the CS always seems to have more fans.

Many thanks for this, SirVicaLot. Spirit came in second - consider me surprised. Maybe I need one after all?  I was also amazed by how well the Executive scored - it's a nice SAK, but I would not have guessed it to be in the Top 3 of many people.

Good stuff  :tu:

Edit: Also interesting: Huntsman comes in third while Fieldmaster does not even get mentioned. Cannot say I am surprised though. What did surprise me was the Pioneer X; I would have guessed it to be a fan favorite.

Big fan of the Spirit as well. You should give it a shot. It has a great tool selection in a very compact package. Whenever we discuss threads like “If you could only have one MT...” the Spirit is mentioned most  :tu:

I was close to pulling the trigger once, but then I read some complaints about the material of the Philips being too soft, the scissors being worse than on a SAK and in some cases the grip of the pliers not being perfectly aligned when closed. That scared me off.

Don’t add the mods. Only SAKs that are or were in production by Vic or Wenger. Otherwise this will get out of hand  :ahhh

I was close to pulling the trigger once, but then I read some complaints about the material of the Philips being too soft, the scissors being worse than on a SAK and in some cases the grip of the pliers not being perfectly aligned when closed. That scared me off.

If you have no issues using the can opener on Philips screws, you certainly won’t have issues with the Philips on the Spirit. I prefer the Philips of the Rebar over the one on the Spirit, but it works just fine  :tu:

The scissors are not worse but different. You won’t want to use them on fingernails, but they destroy zip ties just looking at them  :D Only issue i have is that they do not open wide enough. That can be fixed though with an easy mod.

I have 3 Spirits and all are aligned perfectly, so I have not come across this issue yet.

For the past year:

Keychain - Rambler
EDC - Spartan
Suit Carry - Waiter

I do have hopes though for a planned mod to make a Corkscrew Manager, might become my EDC if all goes well.

Well, that's just the thing, if available I like to use a Philips screwdriver on Philips screw heads. Also, much to the chagrin of my wife, I cut my fingernails with SAK scissors exclusively  Something that just stuck from my student days, I guess. So it looks as if I couldn't use the Spirit the way I would want to, and that would almost certainly annoy me constantly...

I know I'm a few days late to the thread but my top three are
1. Tinker small
2. Pioneer
3. Serrated spartan
All three of them are thin and easy to carry
