Here are the three iterations of the Vic Firemen.

This appears to have been the precursor to the Rescue Tool.

From top to bottom:
1.Slide lock.

2.Liner lock.

3.One hand liner lock.

I have the first version and I think it has the best quality of any Victorinox I've had out of the box, it feels even more solid than Vic's usual great quality and the knife blades are incredibly sharp. I compared it to other 111mm and it's better. Was this a feature of the model or good day/year at the Victorinox factory?

With a thread going about the Outrider, Hercules and Workchamp it's a good time to give this thread a bump, albeit a day late.

Today I was sorting out my SAR gear and also took delivery of a new FireStick.

As the Amazon box failed to open correctly (strip came away but too much glue elsewhere) I used the Vic RT to slice the box  :tu:

Wednesday I noticed the option to carry a 111mm on Wednesdays. I have been carrying 111's for last few months and have grown to like the extra blade length.

I rolled out with my Rucksack and used it to cut up some cheese and a bagel.

I am really enjoying the 111mm. I also have an Outrider that I roll on weekends and a Nomad in between.

I just need a Sentinel and an Alpineer and I'd be content.

That's great CM!  The 111 is a great size to use and carry.  The blade is as sharp as they come... great for dining and kitchen work.

I'd love to have 4 models from this size.
Forester. Skipper. Soldier 08. And a Locksmith in black.
Does anybody know if there's any difference in 111mm scales for saks with corkscrew and the ones with phillips?

As it is Wednesday and I have been favoring the 111's as of late, I rolled out the door with my Nomad.

Happy hump day all

Nice!!  I'm looking forward to using my Workchamp again CM.  After the Military Challenge and the Swisstool Challenge in May I'm going to do a non challenge long term carry of mine.  I really like the 111s.

I agree Barry, these 111's appear to be my sweet spot too. Might even pick up a Sentinel two handed opening for that slim look.

I sure like it Vicman!  I've slingshotted from the 58s to the other end of the spectrum.  Combined with the Swisschamp, I'm in love with the big SAKs all over again.  I'm just carrying it at the moment as backup to the 108mm GAK I'm using for the Army Challenge, but I'm looking forward to putting the big guy to work.

I finally found a slim 111mm to roll with, an Alpineer. I can't believe how light it is. Slid lock is lighter than the liner lock equivalent. I am very happy with my new addition.

Nice lanyard by the way, Surge!   :like:

At first glance the OOF parts almost looked like the caterpillar of a privet swarmer (Sphinx ligustri) to me ...

Thanks TG and I think I got it from Etsy (I am useless at making lanyards, so just buy them  ::))

As for the Caterpillar thing, I'm even more useless at that

No need to facepalm, Surge.

I have a keen interest in natural history and nature photography, so I know my fair share of caterillars.  :dunno: Call it pattern recognition...

And thanks for the hint with etsy. One more thing to look after...
