New Stanley FatMax multi-tool design
on: February 04, 2021, 02:53:44 AM
You may have seen the good old Stanley FatMax, also branded as Dewalt MT16.
The new design offers a bit driver, forged pliers, longer blade, pocket clip, long saw. Looks nice!
The unlocking system looks interesting. There are buttons on the pivot points.

Forged plier head, center-axis bit driver, AND modified sheepsfoot blade--shut up and take my money now!  I said I no longer do anything from the Orient--but given it checks almost all the boxes on my list, and should be quite inexpensive I'm giving it an exception. When are these going to first be available for sale?

I do have one criticism--and it looks like the saw is more designed for drywall than wood. The one improvement I'd make is give it a T-Shank adapter like LMs have.

The unlocking system is intriguing. The buttons are on the pivots. The saw could be for wood. Maybe that picture is the design art or something. I am not seeing it available anywhere yet. I'll get one too if I can find it locally or with reasonable shipping. It is definitely a step up from the old one. Well, several steps up honestly.

Does "Sliver" actually mean anything in this context or is it a typo?
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Forged pliers on a MT always sounds good to me.  :tu:
