What's the fanciest steel you have on a knife or multitool?

Another thread on traditional knives got me thinking about the steels I have on knives and multitools.

By far the fanciest, and only fancyish steel I have is the 154CM that my LM ST300s have on their wire cutters.

I don't recall having anything remotely fancy or high tech.

I have some D2 and 440C knives but these are not fancy these days by any stretch of the imagination.

Most of my knives / multitools are either common grade Carbon steel (GEC, Camillus, Mora, Ontario etc) or common grade SS (Victorinox, Case, Rough Rider, CRKT, LM etc.)

What Fancy/super steels do you have?

Some of these have become fairly common, but 154CM, ATS-34, S30V, S35VN, M390.

I have one Elmax tanto folder, which I  have no need for, just wanted it.

The rest are Victorinox,  14c28n, 9cr18mov,  Mora 12c27, and 440c. All great steels for my needs.

Good thread topic, should be interesting.   :2tu:

Fanciest steel on a MT is 154CM on my Charge and fanciest steel on a knife must be 20CV on my Zero Tolerance 0609 :tu:
Other than that it's a lot of s30v.

S35VN on my Sebenza. Also have S30V,  N690Co and CTS-BD1 on knives and 154CM on a Leatherman Charge.

Two of my favourite non-mystery steel-bladed knives are D2 - a QSP Penguin and an Enzo Elver. I’ve also got some VG-10.

I have a Dragonfly 2 in V-Toku 2 tool steel, coated with SUS 410 for corrosion resistance. It's no ZDP or adamantium or anything, but it sure holds an edge. It lives in my toolbag.

I don't really 'chase' super steel per se, but of a few I owned, I do appreciate them.

I've got a Benchmade with S30V, and my Skeletool CX with 154CM. A few knives with D2. I have an CRKT with Sandvik steel (or whatever its called) but I don't think there is anything to special about it.

Good topic

Victorinox steel, some cheap carbon steel, and whatever Mora uses for their cheap stainless steel Companion. :)

I am not all too sure what qualifies as Fancy Steel really but I have a few in M4,M390 and S35 and I gather that these are Fancier than less pricey steel?

he M4 does seem to hold a great edge for a long time and just cuts most things like a dream and feels like Premium Steel for sure.
The others also seem to be premium but I am also pretty impressed by many knives in 154 or VG10,D2 and even AUS8 so what do I really know after all?!

I don't know if it is fancy but one of my favorite blades because of its steel is a Spyderco Mule in CPM M4 hardened to 62 hrc. Really holds an edge and takes a beating. What's not to like :dunno:
