Found this little Buck knife last night
on: January 16, 2009, 05:23:51 PM
It was mixed in with some old office stuff I had. I really didn't know I had it. in fact, I was looking for an old Spyderco I used to have ages ago. I remember this knife being in my desk, but... I never carried it, don't remember ever buying it, etc.

Anyway, I was thinking, "I'll bet that Spyderco is around here somewhere." and it wasn't.

But there sits a long forgotten little Buck with a razor sharp blade.

Funny. It is EDC today. Anyone have a clue how old it might be? I love the lock on the spine.

No idea about the Buck, but what model of Spyderco was it you were looking for?

Funny thing is.. I can't recall ever buying the Spyderco either. When I was very young I carried SAKs. When I was a teen I had a cheap folder. I never carried a knife after 91-92 when I got my first Gerber MP.

So where the Q and the Buck came from, I do not recall. (Edit to add note: I used to do a lot of drugs)

I was going to sell the Q if I found it. Not my style at all. Too over the top. I like this cheap little Buck though. Handy blade length and shape. I found they still make them. Sell for 10-15 USD.

I gave my wife a pink handle MiniBuck ages ago, probably in the early 1990s.

That little Buck looks like one I had in the early 90's ( '92 - '95 ), I don't remember what ever became of it though.

Apparently you left it at my house. You must have been to one of the parties.

Match your tang stamp to one of the ones on the list and it'll tell you what year your Buck was made.

It's a BU425BK Mini Buck. I think it was part of the BuckLite series.  I have one too and I still carry it because it's so lightweight.  Great little knife.

Incidentally, you can find similarly lightweight, Zytel-ish handled knives from Case (the LT1225L SS) and Gerber (Ultralight LST 22-0605).  All of them are light enough to disappear in your pocket.

Have a look around, if you find a Sog MicroDot - that's probably mine too  ;).  Another one of my favorite mini's I seemed to have misplaced.

If you find and want to sell the Spyderco Q please let me know.  I would be interested in taking it off your hands.  :D

If I find it, I'll let you know first. I'd trade it for a MT or SAK in a minute.

I'm not hopeful though. I thought I knew where it was, and I found the Buck instead. So now I have no clue. Maybe in the garage... maybe in a closet in a box... maybe a drawer...

Or I tossed it or lost it.

That'd be a shame.  I hear they eBay for around $65 USD or way more. Mine would be quite old, but nothing special.
