Why not just go with a wallet case? With the cover, no need for a screen protector.

No corner protection during drops, too much of a pain in the smurf to open and use with gloves. 

That's pretty much it... plus they add a lot more bulk.

Still rocking my Samsung Galaxy Note 8... good phone. I don't use a screen protector but a Spigen case which has a prominent lip at the top and bottom. Almost 4 years and the phone still looks like new (except for the scratches around the USB-C port).
I also have cut out the buttons (from the case), so now the buttons are really hard to get to, meaning no accidental pressing.

Shipping phones without power-brick is stupid and certainly not for the environment. Not only will many people need to buy a separate brick (more packaging/transport), they also push induction charging which is about 30% less energy efficient. Furthermore, newer phones commonly can be charged with higher wattage, so to benefit from that you would need a new brick anyway.

Just got in the wallet case. I like this one better than my G6 one as there is no magnetic flap but the lid still is held securely with a built in magnet.

Wow! This phone is very energy efficient compared to the old phone. It is nice to get home with only around 10% battery used in all day idle.

I also love how quickly they charge  My S20 plus can go from 15% to full charge in less than 2 hours and as you said, when not in use they use very little battery Mine is almost a year old and still does very well battery wise

I finally found a place in the mall to get a screen protector fitted to my phone,  so that was good.

The bad news is that when the guy opened my Otterbox Defender we noticed that the back of the phone was shattered.

I'm very disappointed in this case, and I'm glad I pay for the phone insurance.  I'll probably look into getting it replaced soon as I'm concerned about the loss of water resistance, especially going into spring when it will rain a lot.

I know the issues I had with the case on the G5 regarding dust getting between the inside of the plastic screen and the glass screen of the phone, aggtevatef me greatly. The G5 was not water resistant. The G6 was and I got a wallet case because I hated that life proof case so much. This S21 is Ip68...so no need for a waterproof case for my needs.

Sorry to hear about that Def. That just plain sucks. Are you still doing maritime shipping/appraisals?

I still do some on the side, but mostly nowadays I am working as a construction inspector for the province.  I'm currently attached to a new section of highway being built through an old bomb range which is interesting.

While the job is different, the conditions are very similar as I am outside for extended periods in all weather conditions, so the phone will continue to suffer.
