I want one too.  The prototype we played with was a little rough, but it showed lots of promise, and with Gerber's recent emphasis on quality tools, I can see this being a good tool.  Plus, Gerber has promised us something else that I am not allowed to talk about that I am sure will be a big hit as well.

I'm certain the Gerber haters out there will turn around in the near future.

I can't wait to see what the "something else" is! Any idea on when it's coming out at the least?

I don't mind Gerber, but what do you mean by "recent emphasis on quality tools"? The Flik is decent, but the quality is really lacking IMO..

Hmmm - I think the Navigator shows closer resemblance to the LM Juice than the Skeletool - no?

Grant and Mikey ran into one of the head design gurus for Gerber at the recent Shot Show. It sounds as if this fellow really cares about what we here at Multitool.org think, and an improved emphasis on quality was promised. :)

Asymmetric handles (one with a carabiner), an one-handed knife blade accessible outside are rather similar on Skeletool nor Juice

I thought that too, until the show this year.  Gerber's designers have brought out a number of interesting concepts, like the Crucial, the folding axe and several keychain tools (Curve, Splice, Vice).  I'm looking forward to seeing them once they hit the streets.

Agreed, but they are still using poorly designed drivers, and poor steel for the blades.

$60 ???!?!!  :o :o :o

Screw that man. No way I'm paying that for a china tool when I could get a Skelly.

Other internet places have it for around $40, but shipping still makes it closer to $50.

Pass.

I'll probably get a Crucial and a Freestyle to see which I like better.

As for the Skeletool - no way would I buy one!

I handled both models of Skeletool at Cabelas and the ergos sucked big time.  Price is way too high for a tool with ergonomics that bad.

Someone mentioned the carabiner on the Crucial being in the way.  If it is in the way, a few minutes with a hacksaw and you'd be rid of it for good.

If you didn't like the Skeletool, be prepared to not like the Freestyle.

I liked the Skeletool pliers well enough.  The bit driver seemed functional, but it ruined the ergonomics for me.

I couldn't find any way to grip the Skeletool so that the bit driver wasn't digging painfully into my hand when I squeezed down on the pliers.  Maybe people with smaller hands than mine wouldn't have an issue with this.

At least the Freestyle won't have that particular problem, because it has no bit driver.

I like how the blade isn't pointed though; it's more of a sheepsfoot design! Wouldn't that be cool if LM offered a Skeletool with a fully serrated sheepsfoot blade for EMS/First Responders/LE and the like? That would sell really well, IMO!
The only thing I need on the Skeletool, is a 2H blade.. Not much point in getting one here, when the fine for carrying it is about 1000£  :(
