Size and look wise... just take 4 solitaires and bunch them together, then add about an inch of length.  It looks a lot like a really fat solitaire, it even has the grip grooves around the end...
If you took all the intestines out of your body and stretched them end to end... you would die.

I wonder if this new flashlight is manufactured in the USA?

The body is probably made here by Mag, and the LED innards and circuitry is probably imported and "ASSEMBLED IN THE USA!!!"

I love when I read that on a package...usually under an American flag..."assembled" being the key word..

I'm not saying anything bad about Mag or this new light; I belive the current LEDs are made overseas then fitted into the bodies here in America, and they are great lights.

I was in Wal-Mart today looking at lights and I seen a 2D LED for 19.99 and a Maglite 2C/2D  led dropin made by Maglite for 18.99 they are different. Does anyone know what are the differences. And is the dropin overpriced or is the flashlight bodies really cheap?

What ever happened with this light?

And why did I get this warning?

I for one like the newer LED maglites. Cheap, bright and easy to use. They are built well...and soon..as in the day after thanksgiving you can usually score them ultracheap at Lowes and Home Depot.  I got 2 LED minimags for under 8 dollars and a 2d cell LED for about the same last year.  :D

I'd be all over that new design if it came to light. ::)

My first Mags were a six C cell and a solitaire and I must say the build quality is very good but! they all seem to reduce batteries to tears often within minutes, lousy run times  :P

The solitaire I have is 30 years old it was retired years ago tho it still works,it just didn't cut it for out put either in fact a lighted match puts out as much light  :o

in any event they still make good mod hosts  :D

You can get an LED upgrade kit that significantly extends the life of the batteries and increases the output.  That's what I've thought about doing with my trusty old 6C Maglight, Wilma.

The second generation 2AA MiniMag Rebel LEDs are perfect toolbox or glovebox lights.  Plenty of light for nearly any task, a long runtime low, and even Strobe and SOS for automotive use.  Available in big box stores all over the US for less than $20.

The bigger Mags offer somthing that few of the AA lights can match:  plenty of lumens to light up a whole room for a full day or more contiuously during blackouts.

Throw on the Mag D-cell lights with Rebel LEDs is very decent, easily beating out many 2AA lights that cost much more.

I understand that Mags aren't a good deal for the UK and European folks due to their high prices over there.

But for Americans, and maybe Canadians, Mags still offer a lot of bang for the buck.
