Well with my back healed up finally and somehow getting 15-20C weather in November, I headed up for a few days of work.

Sunrise over the mud road....

I got the first wall up and most of the rough in for a large window done.  Still needs to be finished at the bottom but I just wanted to lift a wall and get the project going.

I got the wall lifted later on then hauled in more 2x4s and tarped up what I could.  The locals said winters coming shortly so I dont know if this is the end of the build season or I'll get another chance to go frame the other walls.

I went and scouted the spot I want to build a fire tower and it would make a great view.  That will have to be after the cabin, solar shed, cold cellar mined in rock, greenhouse and adult teeter totter though. lol

Well Season 3 of the land project has been underway since May but all I have been doing is trying to finish the cabin build before I start on the other fun projects.  So far no injuries though.  :D

And this is how far I am as of today.  I got the 2x10 ridge beam in and a few rafters then got some tarps on before the rain came again.

I did get the rest of the rafters hauled up and stacked on the top floor so hopefully next week when I go back I can finish the roof framing and start on sheeting.

+1

Are you planning on having some kind of insulation on the walls? Like foam or glass wool?

Well I failed to get the cabin completed before winter but for completeness I'll add how far I got.

I worked until late November and put on 25,000km on the truck over 23 visits. lol.  No injuries this season at least.

Sheeting the roof was awkward.  I did a 12:12 pitch and used ropes to haul up the sheets.  It worked but it was not fun.  If I was to start over Id do a single surface shed style roof at way less pitch.

Working off a ladder was terrible so I made some scaffold which was so much better for roof access and better to work from.

I made 2x4 ladders for each side of the roof and i was able to navigate well with those to nail the sheets on.

We got the door installed and all walls tyveked.  No windows installed and no shingles so I tarped it all and called it quits until probably April.

:D
