To clarify...a "Jack" is a ship borne Flag whether it be a "Union Jack" or "Under Pilot Jack". :tu:

Also, the War of Independence was not Americans Vs British...it was British V British....there was no such Race as American, as a result the first few Presidents were born on British soil and therefore "British"  :pok:

So technically the British won the war of independence against themselves.  :surrender:

(Now all we do is play with ourselves  :D)

Historically, Flash is right.  Officially it was considered an internal rebellion/civil war.  The colonies were no threat to England proper.  Chance of america invading england was up there with the martians invading England.

BUT!! With this civil war going on in the colonies, made Engand a genuinely vulnerable to an attack from France, a genuine enemy of England at the time.
"Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall;
 Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
 And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

That is true...one of the reasons a lot of English Soldiers were not sent to USA was to keep down the French Threat.

As a result over time we have either lost or given away most of our colonies but retained the longest record for never being successfully invaded (1066 AD was the last, and even then he was half-English ;))

Picked one up during a quick stop at the Leatherman factory store in Portland. (Someday I swear I am gonna take a tour of that place!) The Damascas Wave was a little too rich for my blood.  :)

Already this Micra has found its way into my EDC bag...

Woo... Nice bit of kit there, especially the.........

G2 Mini. That used to be my pen of choice too. Till I discovered the Uni Jetstream. You should try one of those, writes like a gel ink pen but the effect is totally ball point. So you get the smoothness of the tip without the smudging especially when writing on slightly glossy paper.
