That's just too big to be practical. Easier to just carry a regular tool box.

Finally a SAK with two parcel hooks.

Looks like it replaces the XAVT with traditional scales and a few extra tools. I wonder if it's so they can stop producing the electronic scales.

What extra tools? I really think it's a regular scaled XAVT. The other models with digital scales have been discontinued as well.
Has been discussed before on the forum.

I'm probably mistaken. The duplicates of the back layer tools aren't shown in the XAVT photos but are probably on it. So it's just the scales that are different?

That looks really cool! Too much money, but cool!! It is amazing that years ago, I bought the XLT for about $80.00, and now I see it at nearly $240.00 on Amazon. The Swiss Champs are about $75.00 now, and I got mine for about $50.00. I also have a Swiss WorkChamp  XL and they have skyrocketed in price.

Their site says 73 functions. When you got 2 mp hooks, does that count as 2 functions? I understand that one comes with a nail file, but still 2 same hooks.
They could have just left that slot empty. IMO that is dishonest.

Will there be a time when I need to use the hook, then I prefere the one with the file? I dont know.

Just checked again, 2 identical fine sd  :dunno:.
I guess I wont be having this in my collection.
If a miracle happens and I got it as a gift, I will definitly modify it by removing those extras.

It would have sound more right if they say 71 function.

Those hooks should have been in opposite directions so you could grab/hold a string or wire from two sides, minimizing jump-out possibilities.  Imagine using it to slide down a Kevlar string unwound from the spool hidden in your custom scale and tossed, grappling hook style, to make your getaway!

Edit: is there a badge for ideas that should have been presented via a sketch on the folded-paper-bag cover on a 10th grade geometry text book?  Just checking.
My Mods: 58mm Workshop, 91mm Picnicker, CyberCompact
Some Fav's: long nail file models, vintage unusual stainless
Quirk: I like the metal file more than the wood saw

I’m usually all over big SAKs
Initially I was like, right, where do I buy! :
Then it occurred to me this will have the newer mag layer....I really dislike the new style acrylic mag layer. It find it looks cheap and flimsy. Much preferred the older grey version. Maybe Victorinox should have invested a little more thought in to it’s design and materials used.

It looks like the first thing that would snap!

Interesting read. I was under the impression you just hated those greedy sleazeballs at Victorinox and would never give them a dime after what they did to poor ol' Wenger.

That too  :tu:

I have the XLT, XAVT, XXLT, Workchamp XL
Plus the Wenger equivalents

I like big SAKs  :D
But that new style mag layer is a abomination. It is what it looks.....cheap and nasty. Clearly it was a cost cutting measure. I own a couple of modern Explorers that have the newer mag layer and I HATE it, sorry.
