Suggestions please Farmer x alox pouch
on: August 08, 2021, 01:08:39 AM
I will be coming into a nice new Victornox Farmer x alox in the very near future (my birthday present)

I want a nice new, good looking and robust sheath for said tool.

Suggestions please.

Id like it to be reasonably firm in the sheath, but not hard to remove.
The sheath preferably leather, but will consider other.
Must look good and be small enough to carry comfortably on the belt.
Would love horizontal , but will consider other.

I have looked on various sites , but they are for 91 or larger than the 93, nothing around the 93 mm size which is the size of the farmer alox.
I would assume some of you would have one of these, and hopefully a good sheath (pouch) that will suit my purposes.

Thanking you all in advance

Bizarrely the LED Lenser P3 nylon sheath fits perfectly and looks good too. You might be able to get one of you ask around  :tu:

Could make your own; just  piece of leather  or cloth and a needle and thread.

The medium Zermatt sheath, you can get it with/without the steel on the side, but an absolute perfect fit and will last!

They are, they uses to be on the sak store if I’m not mistaken, but I’ve always had them, my grandfather gave me my first when I was 12 and I still have his, I’ll put it to you this way, I ended up losing my sak while running around in the woods, and found it a whole year later, so a whole year of storms snow and anything else, and when I found it, it just needed a little clean up and it kept the sak pretty clean, grant it the brass was a little ugly but still did it’s job!

That middle one is it, next to both a new one and an older one which was my grandfathers, I must say it did kinda break the leather in for me! But that’s it 30yrs later, you can see some of the pitting on the backside of the sak but other then that it cleaned up, that and the inside of the snap, which I could probably scrape clean and polish but it’s more of a memory, I keep my retired sak in my grandfathers sheath on display,,

I got one from WideRiverChe on Etsy.  It is leather horizontal carry and he is willing to custom size for SAK that you want.

You could get some leather and try your hand at making one.

Pardon a dumb question. But what is the difference between a Zermatt pouch and a simple. basket weave leather pouch that every online dealer on the planet sells?
I have several large 91s in leather belt pouches that work very well for the last 30+ years.

The Zermatt pouches are solid pieces of leather stamped with a pattern, not woven strips.  This certainly isn’t to say that there aren’t third parties offering high quality leather sheaths that will fit 91 mm and 93 mm SAKs.

I didn't mean physically woven, just stamped pattern. What's the difference in Zermatt?
